Magic Council
On the surface, the Magic Council is protecting the world from the same misuse of magic that caused the The Fall of Netheril. This is observed by their control of magic learning and the forbidden spells under their order. Behind the scenes they are working in conjunction with the Explorer's Guild to protect the world from the battle between Beshaba and Tymora; they are agents in the War of Fortune. The head quarters is perceived to be in Illexslate in the center of the Griffon Heights Mageocracy, but the true headquarters is hidden on the island of Ardenkirk surrounded by a Theocracy.
