Arcane-tech golems

The highly militarized nature of states in the arcane-tech age has lead to massive efforts on all sides to maintain large military forces. The use of organic soldiers is still prevalent, however many nation-states have invested resources into inorganic soldiers and unmanned weapon systems. This droidification has been pushed by governments and corporations to varying degrees of success. Despite push back in some sectors the growth of golem system production continues to increase with more and more droid units replacing organic ones. Golem systems are divided into three main types: Drones, Droids and Watchers.

Drones

These are unmanned systems that are remotely controlled by an organic user. Their design is varied and they are used in multiple sectors. The primary sector which employs the use of drones and drone pilots is the military sector, nations across the multi-verse have developed extensive training and deployment measures for drone units. Drones units are commonly used in reconnaissance, strike craft and support roles. Their varied design and interchangeable components make these units extremely adaptable to their user's needs, from destroying enemy fuel supplies to providing medical supplies a drone unit can do it all. The main producer of drones in the Arcane-tech age is Golem Tech Corp, this mega-corporation focus mainly on drones from military use but also have a significant share in the commercial and civilian markets. Drones in these sectors operate in roles such as security, transport & advertising.

Droids

These are robotics systems designed for a single pre-generated purpose. These systems have limited intelligence and rely on programming and an organic command structure to operate. Set to a particular task the droid acts out its commands detailed by its programming, because of this droids lack the ability to think for themselves or improvise on anything other than a basic level. Despite this apparent limitation droids serve a significant purpose in the Arcane-tech age. These units are relatively cheap to produce and acquire making they perfect for expanding militaries, business security or as enforcers.

Watchers

These are sentient program systems in constructed bodies. They are highly divisive as their programming has allowed them to maintain a level of sentience which rivals the nature races. Despite their sentient nature watchers do not receive the same innate rights of other sentient creatures. If they are produced by Mega-corporations they are seen as the property of that Mega-corporation.
There exist two models of Watcher, the Core 6 and 7. The Core 6 is an older generation that is constructed from inorganic material and is subdivided into three classes (E, J & S). The Core 7 is the newest generation and is built using synthetic organic material that allows them to change their appearance, making them indistinguishable from organic races. Because of this, the Organic Sympathy Test OPT has been developed to allow authorities to uncover core 7s.

The Watcher Articles

If a corporation chooses to produce watchers they are required by WU law to set a duration of time under which the watcher is bond to the corporation. The time under direct corporation control is determined by the watcher’s total life span and cannot exceed 70% of their entire life, for example, if a Watcher can live for 10 years up to 7 years must be under corporate control. This means that watchers are created for very particular projects, with set time frames and objectives. Watchers that are still under corporation control have a chip implanted in them which insures they are subservient to the owners will, this chip is removed when the “retire” from corporation work.
Many watchers do not reach the point of retirement from their owner, many are killed or otherwise rendered unusable whilst working. Those that do survive have their memories altered to remove all sensitive material and are released into the world, they receive a small allowance from their once owners as compensation for their service. Retired watchers find themselves living in a world that often mistrusts them and they find adjusting to their new normal difficult.

Dispelling & counter spelling Arcane-tech golems

When a spellcaster attempts to breakthrough a golem's encryption the spellcaster performs an ability check with their spellcasting modifier, the DC equals the encryption level. On a successful check, the encryption software fails to stop the magical effect and the golem stops working until the start of the casters next turn.
