Mhan

Mhankind (more commonly referred to as Mhan or simply, Folk), claims the distinction of being the one race to have arrived in Aÿshra from a different continent altogether in 474, 2A. The Orkäen journeyed here from afar as well, by nothing more than foot, caravan and sheer grit, from far beyond the Ashen Cliffs in the southwest. What is considered by most experts as the darker, untamed regions of Aÿshra. But we shall come back around to the Orkäen in their own chapter.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The race of Mhan is one of many contradictions. It is thought that due to their shorter lifespan, in comparison to the other races, Mhankind has always had an unspoken need to 'win' or excel at everything. To always be the biggest and the best. Despite their many victories in previous wars and political conflicts, Mhankind is by far the weakest of all the races, their bones break and their skin tears so easily compared to someone of the Orkäen race for example. Also, Mhen have no natural defense or immunity to any magicks, unlike those of Elven decent who offer at least a rudimentary form of magickal resistance. However, there have been Mhen who have had the ability to still wield magick, though these reports are less and less frequent through time.

Growth Rate & Stages

Offspring of Mhankind, known as children, reach full adulthood on average, around 18 - 20 years. They tend to live on average around 65 - 70 (folk) years.

Ecology and Habitats

As with most of warm-blooded mortals, Mhankind has an exceptionally high tolerance for nearly all environmental biomes, with the one exception being the Jekovaan Mountains, where the average Mhan wouldn't last more than a full day at best, in a 'mild' Jekovaan storm, regardless of what they wore at the time or what supplies they'd brought.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Within two decades of their initial landing on the continent on the northeastern coast at Ghalan's Oak, Mhankind was sending ships year round from their homeland, Eduvia, ships with different clan factions, ships with various political bigwigs, ships with settlers, ships with soldiers and so on. It was those ships carrying the soldiers who quickly began carving their territory out of what is now commonly referred to as Fallow Fen, where Mhen quickly took their first foothold. After nearly a century of peacefully farming and working the land, steadily building up the Folk communities along the northeastern coast, the ambitions of Mhen grew unchecked. Large forces quickly made their way west of Fallow Fen into the Forest of Ghin, what is considered by most historians as the birthplace of the Sylvan race. Unfortunately, much of this land was already under constant war between the Sylvan tribe known today as the Kiv Atʼeneké Plainsriders and the Jekovaan Mülgheniv clan, one of the few Jekovaan lineages to live at the base of the Jekovaan Mountains rather than in the mountain ranges and thus, their compulsion to spread further south.   Mhan was not deterred however, beginning their own assaults from the east on the Mülgheniv family and their armies, eventually proving superior in battle thanks to their unique fighting style never before seen in this land. Once the remaining Jekovaans were forced back north to their enclaves at the base of the mountains, Mhan began focusing their attentions south and westward. Not only were the Plainsriders eventually forced back, but practically ALL Sylans, regardless of tribe, were pushed to the southwest, so that Mhan would eventually spread and settle over half of Ghendarahon their own, all within less than a century.   'Their' land spread from the Fallow Fen in the upper northeastern coast, along Omeroth's Teeth to the west and south into the Forest of Ghin, then they began expanding to the ends of the plains far north around Ae'thek's Pass until Mhankind's thirst for lands that were not theirs came to a much-needed end near Nevinear's Impasse to the far west! Over the course of the next Age, however, Mhan would find themselves integrating with the other races and cultures in Aÿshra more peacefully over time as all races came together in a mostly peaceful time.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

When it comes to the seven senses, Mhan are considered the standard that all other races are compared to. There was no favoritism involved in that decision, but rather that Mhen quite literally have the most "average" senses of all who live within Aÿshra's borders. Their senses lack any substantial value that would be worth the effort of further notemaking from this author's personal opinion.
Lifespan
