Observitas' First Kraken Encounter

Utilizing the renowned capabilities of Triton sailors, members of the Observitas Biologica document for the first time, with the proper means, the legendary Kraken. The encounter left the Observitas team severely crippled; losing their ship, 54 sailors and 2 Observitas members, the rest only barely escaping upon life boats. The interaction is thoroughly documented and presented to the Universitas within the year.

The account of the incident describes the amazed Observitas team viewing the Kraken hunting while aboard a Triton ship, when the Kraken came too close to the vessel. The waves knocked sailors and supplies overboard. A huge rumbling was felt, and the water around the ship became an abyss, stained with the ink of the giant cephalopod. Then came the tentacles, as they wrapped themselves around the ship, crushing the beautiful living glass marvel and slaughtering the mass of the crew. The triton immediately evacuated by their natural means. The surviving team members escaped marginally, using the few life boats that were remaining onboard. 56 people were lost that day, although the documentation of the creature was very significant.
