Shamanism of forrest-orcs

Structure

Shamans are usually elders although exceptions can be found where even younglings conduct shamanism. The shaman does not walk with the caravan, but the caravan abides to his needs and seek him for guidance. Women cannot be shamans.

Mythology & Lore

The birth of orcs comes from Éa or Éntra depending who you ask. All shamans prey to Éa though. Since it was her creation of Éreli that gave rise to orcs. It is disputed if orcs are éreli themselves or were twisted by Éntra. Some even argue that they were the byproduct of the éreli creation. Éa created éreli that stands for all families and all shamans. Éntra is known to be evil god so they don't call onto him for fear of his wrath.

Divine Origins

The shamanism comes from elvish druidism and is largely based on their traditions. The wood prayer is a good example. Orcs do mix in a lot of their innate culture like importance of battle and respect of elders. Which was not part of the original druidism.

Tenets of Faith

Listen to family. Your father is the way and your mother is the means you should conduct yourself in life. Be graceful to every member of your family and to the inhabitans of the forrest. Don't cross no rivers and stay under the canopy at all times. Wear copper masks when not ready to face the world.

Ethics

It is expected for shamans to be humble and seldom ask for help. It is on the other hand customary to provide them with food or services. The family is above all else and the elders are to be respected. Questions can be raised but not to undermine someones authority. The women are equal to men in every aspect except being shamans, form that they are prohibited although they can serve as Éa did and teach younglings. Teachers are valued often even above shamans.

Worship

There are two ways specific to genders of how to participate. The throat singing and mushroom consumption is limited to men while education of younglings in history, strategy and fighting belongs to women.

Priesthood

Shamans often carry a totem made from bird feathers and animal bones veaved with vines on a staff. Every fragment has a meaning, for example number of teeth is the number of services the shaman provided and prayers he lead. While a skull is for aquiring critical insight before battle. Women teachers shave their heads and wear copper chain earings. Every ring on the chain is granted to them by a pupil who finnished his education.
