Camallat, Astorian Capital

The oldest city in The Thirteen Kingdoms(organization:51600eb8-a76f-452e-af97-ef15a8da1521), Camallat was the first city ever founded by humans, and has served as the capital of @[The Kingdom of Astoria since it's founding.   A city with massive cultural impact, it is home for to both the Astorian royal family but also serves as a holy site for The Astorian Traditional Pantheon, bringing in thousands of pilgrims each year for religious expression and political reverence.

Demographics

The vast majority of the population of Kamalott are humans of Astorian descent, however the political significance of the city see an unusually high number of other ethnicities of human descent, often serving as or supporting the various diplomatic services being conducted within the city.

Government

The capital city of the feudal kingdom of Astoria, the city and its surrounding demesne belong to the ruling King of Astoria, who serves not only as the highest form of authority in the city, but also the kingdom at large.

Infrastructure

The once-sprawling city quickly grew to expand into the surrounding countryside, overtaking former farmlands and pressing into the banks of the river and nearby cliffs.    Once the city's ability to expand horizontally was restricted the city saw vertical growth in the form of multi-story buildings. The city has four layers of walls expanding outwards from the castle proper in the city's north-east district.

History

The city was founded after the crowning of the first High King of Astoria, to serve as the family's ancestral home, a military fortification, and as a symbol of power for the Astorian royal family.
