Brief Biography

Gigi Binks is the only daughter of D.B. (Douglas “Doug” Binks”) a fisherman and her mother Keira Reeves, who is a guest at Shawshank State Prison. Her parents met in High School and Elizabeth “Gigi” Binks was born not long after their graduation. Her father lost custody years ago for repeated negligence, though he has maintained something of a relationship with Gigi in the years since. Gigi works hard as a waitress at The Mariner, dreaming of saving enough money to leave the island and start a new life somewhere else.

Douglas Binks does his best although his life meets with one disaster after another. He doesn’t talk about the mother of his child. He works hard but tends to spend money as soon as he earns it. He dreams of going to Washington State to find where D.B. Cooper jumped out of the plane with the stolen money but is terrified of flying and hasn’t saved the funds to take the trip. He has taken Gigi on a number of camping trips where they have pretended to search for lost treasure and the tracks of bandit heroes. He likes to be outdoors and was a keen baseball player in High School.

Gigi's father refers to her as “Selkie” -- a reflection on her love of the water and what he perceives as wanderlust.
