Harrowgate Keep
Harrowgate Keep is a castle situated in the northern ward of Harrowgate city, and is the formal seat of the noble House Trevelyan, though it is currently occupied by the disgraced House Wulff and its de facto head Harland Wulff.
To an outside observer, it is a castle on a hill. But a more accurate description is "a castle, built on a castle, built on a castle". Though massive, it is not disorganized. The castle and its defenses have several layers, each inner layer higher than the one before it.
The ramparts that form the front wall are separated from the Keep's entrance by drawbridge, this location serves as a buffer zone to hold off invaders while defenders inside rallied. Even if the ramparts were breached, they would have to breach one more wall to truly be inside the castle proper. Catapults were stationed on the upper levels so they could fire freely on any attacking army without fear of being destroyed.
The fortress was also rumoured to host a network of tunnels underneath it for a quick and stealthy escape.
Alterations
Harrowgate Keep has been subject to centuries of successive rulers, each of whom has added to the structure resulting in a fortress whose deepest bowels are mostly unmapped with the newest constructions piled atop the old.
