Black Bonds

The mayor of the small town sat nervously at the window of his office, staring at the blackened wooden board across the way. On the board, a single black piece of paper flapped lazily in the wind, held down by a silver nail. Though he could not make out the writing from where he sat, he knew what words were on the paper. His town needed help. Some massive creature had been spotted dozens of times, stalking through the nearby forest. Livestock had started to go missing. Now, little Timson had gone missing, with only a small boot to be found where he was last seen playing. Looking up at the Black Bond on the board he noticed suddenly the writing had gone dark. Someone had accepted the contract! Hope flooded into his body and his rose quickly to go tell Timson's parents that the Blackmoon Society had taken the job, and hopefully they family could get their son back, or...get some closure in event of the worst..

Purpose

The Black Bond is a formal contract seen around Ashtora on The Blackmoon Society Job Boards. This magically binding contract is used when someone or some organization requires the service of adventurers. After a contract is created by one of the Society's Clerks, it is magically signed by the requester, notarized by a Society Supervisor, and then posted on the job board. If requested, the contract can be magically duplicated at other locations to allow a wider selection of adventurer to accept. Once accepted by a Blackmoon Society adventurer, all remaining copies of the contract become inert. Should the first group fail in their task, the remaining Bonds will reactivate. Upon completion of the contract, the Black Bond also compels the requester to give payment in the promised amount, making these contracts safer for wayward adventurers to take, knowing well that they will not be swindled.
