The Death's Water


A chaotic and dangerous sea locate in the North Y’yoth Ocean, belong to both Y’yoth and Sumarch continent. Infested with monsters that can tear apart a huge merchant ship and slaughter any living being to fulfill their bloodthirsty.

LOCATION & GEOGRAPHY

 

Location

Dark Sea is an infamous sea in The Goble. It is a huge, dark, and horrifying area to any sailors. Lay in Y'yoth Ocean near Scarlet Reach island, fell around 60°-70° longitude.   Dark Sea is located on the border of Graterra. Although no kingdoms nor anyone wants to claim it because the mysterious and hostile nature of the Death's Water, resulting in taking a big expedition will cost too many resources. Only Republic of Arnnis, Uroria, Silvering Kingdom, and New Fasmaria are noting about it.   Silvering kingdom had made a successful negotiation with Graterra's leaders to obtain a collaborative ownership of the sea, in exchange for Ereaza mineral.  

Geography

The geography of Dark Sea is still in research.  

Hilldratar

Currently, we barely knew that it’s always protected by a tremendous wall of mist, greatly reduces the vision range. The fog here also seems to be denser than normal. Although is also a sign of entering the Dark Sea, helping many realize and change their way back before too late.  

Deadzone

Pass the fog will lead you to the sinister water, where restless winds howling on the moody sky. Some natural structures had been noted like weathered rocks and jagged peaks.
 

FAUNA & FLORA

 

Fauna

Inhabitants of the Dark Sea are monsters, is unknown why they're more hostile than normal. Mostly lives underwater, while some survivors said they saw the presence of air monsters such as Herpp and Swigrifth. Presently, the largest ones that had been encountered are a trio of behemoths: The Serpent, The Lighthouse, and The Rock.  

Flora

There are no vegetable or plant life that have been found yet. Other than some Diving Pad spotted to floating on the water surface.  

METEOROLOGY

The climate in the Black Sea is disastrous. Even on the day the sky is somber and lack of sunlight, causing the atmosphere here is usually heavy. On the night observation become impossible due to the pitch-black environment.   Survivors said it is always stormy here and waves are much more powerful, sometimes have a little bit of fog.

HISTORY

The Dark Sea was first found in 1372 by Black Queen II merchant ship, after the rise of waterway transportation. It accidentally goes into The Mist Zone and lost, then attacked by sea monsters, only 2 sailors survived by escaping from the emergency boat. And from that, the Black Queen Incident rose upon people's ears, acknowledged some first evidence about the Dark Sea.   Years after years, the Dark Sea is now confirmed as a nautical location. And become a magnet that attracts courageous souls who want to uncover those hidden mysteries lies beneth the water. But it does not mean all of them comeback...  

MYTHS & LEGENDS

Dark Sea is tied with many myths, like the Unknown Island or rumors about legendary sea monsters. Some of them had been confirmed, like the Behemoths.   Also, there are legends of 12 Iron Hearts & Survivors. These tales are about people who dare to get in and out of the Dark Sea successfully, come back with amazing stories to tell, and going closer in the mission of uncover the veil of this forsaken area.  

THE UNKNOWN ISLAND

  The Unknown Island is a mysterious landmark of the Dark Sea. There is no more evidence about it other than myths people pass to each other. Somebody said it protects the most valuable treasures you ever think of. Somebody said it’s the place that provoked chaos and darkness to this sea. Somebody even said it’s a hidden paradise, where all wishes will come true. But none of them is true because the information of the man who first found it has been long lost.

If you consider to come here, please remind the choice as many times as possible. If you still want to do it, go at your own risk! Here are some notes by who had survived:   + Map and compass is necessary. You can bring some Glow Lichen and Dark Vision Potion if you want to see better in the dark.   + Always go on a straight path after enter the Mist Zone.   + Brings as many foods as possible. Just in case you lost.   + Remember to both high-armored you and your transportations.   + NEVER jump down the water or follow anything tells you to do that.   + Always have high caution in the nighttime, most monsters will go hunting at this moment. And it’s nearly impossible to see due to the pitch-black sky, resulting in having an ambush by monsters is highly happenable.   + Flee when capable, only fight when necessary. They can outnumber you.   + Because of the heavy atmosphere of the Dark Sea. Breathing in here for a long time can cause sleepy and mental illnesses like hallucination or violence outburst. So is best to have a Priest(tess), Psionic or learn some Mind Enhance skills.   + Beware of the sudden change of weather.

When getting provoked for (5 + Wisdom ability modifier) times, getting stress for (4 + Wisdom ability modifier) hours, lack of fresh air for (20 + Wisdom ability modifier) minutes or affect by mind alter spells. The victim must make a Perception check. If succeed, delayed the effect of Outburst for 2d4-1 hour. If fail, roll a 60-sided dice and takes matching effects:


10-20I grant +2 to Strength and Dexterity, -2 to Wisdom and Intelligent. Small chance to have Ruthless flaw.
21-30I grant +2 to my Strength and Dexterity, -3 to Wisdom and Intelligent. Forced to have Ruthless flaw.
31-40I grant +3 to my Strength and Dexterity, -4 to Wisdom and Intelligent. Forced to have Ruthless flaw. Disadvantage in Perception and Insight checks.
41-50I grant +3 to my Strength and Dexterity, -5 to Wisdom and Intelligent. Forced to have Ruthless flaw. Disadvantage in Perception, Insight and Intelligent checks. I cannot stay in one place.
51-60I grant +4 to my Strength and Dexterity, -7 to Wisdom and Intelligent. Attempt to attack anyone on 2 tiles radius (physically or mentally). Disadvantage in Perception, Insight and Intelligent checks. I cannot stay in one place and speak normally.
 
An accursed water that monster claimed. Many man were hesitated here, became food for these deep blue dwellings. Legend said there is a treasure island lay in there, waiting to be found...
