Ordo Dracul

The Ordo Dracul of Montreal are united individualists. They have no interest in kindred politics but recognize that there is strength in unity. They also acknowledge and celebrate the fact that there is strength not only in how much you know, but specifically what you know, and more importantly about whom. If anyone needs a blackmail material, the identity of a loved one, the code to a safe, or anything else concerning the kindred or kine of the City of Festivals, they reach out to the Dragons. But everyone does so, expecting a steep price.

Structure

The Dragons of the City of Festivals are leaderless but not without organization. When there are meetings of the other covenants, at Elysium or otherwise, one of the three mentors of the Ordo Dracul may show up to speak for the covenant.
There must always be three mentors, veterans of the Ordo who keep watch on Montreal night by night. To date, the only way of becoming a mentor was for one to experience Final Death and a protege to take their place. In its short, revealed existence, the Ordo Dracul has had at most three proteges to assist the Dragons with there independent research. Earning such an honor is impressive even to kindred outside of the covenant as the Defiant are very selective with who they bring into the fold.

Assets

Le Metro, belongs to the Defiant. They do not act as ferry folk however and allow usage to all kindred. It is however, the best way to meet with a Dragon to discuss and bargain. Every Wyrm's nest in the city is linked to the subway tunnels, although the location of each is held secret to covenant members only.

History

The Ordo Dracul has always walked the starlit nights of Montreal and will be walking them when no other kindred does. Rumors have it that a Dragon stowed away on an Invictus ship in the late 1600s to finally arrive in Montreal. Although when they arrived is unclear, they have been essential to many of the kindred in the city. For the first three hundred years of existence in the City of Festivals, the Defiant were mythical informants and seers to the Invictus, Lancea et Sanctum, Carthians and the Circle of the Crone , with Neonates believing them to be legends, Ancillia experiencing them as Seers of myth and Elders being familiar with their existence and quality of knowledge.   In 1966 however, as the Invictus funded and saw to the construction of Montreal's subway system, the Ordo Dracul made themselves known to all kindred and staged a coup to lay claim to Le Metro. What should have been a way for the Lords and Ladies of the Night to traverse great distances on the island in mere minutes, soon became the undisputed land of the Dragons. The ire of the First Estate should have been felt and the Defiant wiped out, but no action was taken and all understood that a great debt had been paid.
In the new Millennium, the Ordo assumed the same role they always have: watchers, informants, the keepers of Ville Marie's secrets. No one knows more than they do, and everyone knows this.
