The Technocratic Union

A multi-system alliance that reveres technology, The Technocratic Union is one of the most powerful human-centric organizations in known space. They greatly fear death and dislike psychics, believing that The Scream was the result of a botched experiment by psychics to take control of the government.
As organic parts of their bodies fail they replace them with increasing amounts of cyber-technology. The oldest have over 90% of their body replaced. Individuals can live for over 400 years.
Majority of strength is deployed defensively, protecting their borders, though they send out frequent scouting parties to locate and retrieve ancient pre-tech and to harass opponents and to cull insurectionists.
Fully accepting of AI and robotics to make up for low manpower. They have an intense dislike of psychics with heavy sanctions and punishments for psychics residing in or passing through their territory.
Amicable relations with aliens, with several species partially incorporated into the union.
Mutual hostility towards The Hegemony faction because of opposed ideals.

Structure

A meritocratic, technology based, confederation of induvidual systems. The highest head of state is the Council of Triarchs, a council of three elders that each head up a facet of the Union's ideology: Research and Development; Engineering; and Application. Each is responsible for different tasks that fall under these concepts.
R&D - Responsible for creation of new technology and the reverse engineering of any Pre-Scream tech that the Union discovers.
Engineering - Responsible for logistics of the Union such as resources and construction.
Application - Responsible for foreign contact both diplomatic and military as well as domestic security.
