LMD Sessions 1 & 2

General Summary

Session 1 The adventurers first met in the township of Ivanhammer, a small farming settlement in Northern Lurzia on The River Ivan. Priest, Rhiannon, and Sora all had their own business in the town square, but were drawn to each other by destiny. The trio made all necessary introductions before speaking with the fur trader Vexandem about the state of the town and its happy citizens. He explained the resounding success of Ivanhammer and its significance on the continent. He encouraged them to join him in his daily attendance at the Ivanhammer Church where Yoordai delivered captivating sermons. Vexandem, among many others, believed that Yoordai's teachings were essential for the town's continued well-being. Before attending church, the trio decided to visit The Floodborne Inn to gather more information on the town. They met the owner, Echadora who seemed equally as enamored as Vexandem. Rhiannon peeled off to buy some potions from Floogh potion shop and made quite the lasting impression. The trio reconvened and headed to the church to witness the talked-up Yoordai in action. They were taken aback by the church's perfect attendance and the silent manner in which the patrons took their seats. The three were unaware of proper Ivanhammer Church etiquette and Priest got a little too nosy reading some of the patrons' holy thoughts, while Sora ended up offending the man sitting behind her. Yoordai emerged from behind his curtain and delivered a brief and unremarkable sermon of platitudes and assumptions before briefly extinguishing the lights and attempting to enter the minds of the trio, but with limited success. The service ended as quickly as it had begun, and the patrons promptly exited in an orderly fashion, seeming as enchanted as ever. Sora and Rhiannon questioned some townspeople to no avail while Priest sought to speak with the red priest Yoordai and approached his podium. The two conversed about the nature of religion and the methodology behind preserving faith. Yoordai remained effortlessly vague and incited the admittance that even Priest's widely accepted deity was, but a fabrication. He grinned smugly and oozed back behind the curtain, leaving Priest to his thoughts in the eerily vacant nave.     Session 2 The adventure resumed right where it had left off. Sora and Rhiannon set off from the church to investigate the Ivanhammer Gambling House, having learned that it was just as routinely attended as the church. They promptly arrived at the buildings doors where to bore witness to dozens of persistent patrons participating in the extravagance of the casino's interior. The bouncers asked the pair to state their business before snickering at the admission that the trip to the casino was a sightseeing venture. As the duo entered, the beheld the shear lavishness of the interior. Vibrant red carpets and glistening gold-trim adorned every fixture and finish. At the back of the expansive room, perched atop a throne of sorts, sat Quidor, the casino's owner. He maintained careful watch over the premises, smugly surveying his naive pocket-fodder. Sora and Rhiannon moved about the space cautiously, wisely avoiding the steep slope into theorized gratification. At one point, the two felt a force trying to access their minds, but were formidable enough to resist. Sora cleverly detected that it was Quidor who attempted to influence them and the duo promptly approached him. As Quidor began to speak, Rhiannon felt the untameable urge to partake in one of the room's many kiosks. Sora's attempt to dissuade her was in vain, but fortunately for the pair, Rhiannon came out 500gp richer. The two confronted Quidor again, demanding him to answer for his unethical tactics. Although they were able to siphon a lot of information off the man, he kicked them out before revealing too much. The pair set out to meet back up with Priest.   Meanwhile, Priest remained at the church to investigate its uncanny effectiveness. He examined one of the candles and learned that it was constant and unextinguishable. He reapproached the podium and reexamined the parchments contained within. "This is the way, this is the way, this is the way..." is all they said, hundreds of times in all manner of script. Puzzled and captivated, the heavily-armoured Warforged attempted to stealthily peek behind the curtain. He saw a large chamber beyond, as minimalistic as he'd come to expect. With no sign of the red priest, Priest indulged himself and began investigating the private room. He visited what was, presumably, Yoordai's own desk. He discovered a letter written in an unrecognizable language which he attempted to copy onto a piece of parchment. Next, he visited one of the many bookshelves and read about The War of Silver Brittle, The Great Divergence, and the legacy of scientific persecution in Lurzia. While scouring the room, Priest heard a rustling at the church's backdoor. He called out, revealing himself. In response, the rustling stopped. When he investigated, Priest found only that a figure had been standing on the door's outside mere moments before. Locked out and filled with questions, Priest set out to meet up with his two companions.   The trio reconvened between the two landmarks and shared their findings. Sora recognized Priest's scribbling to be the exclusive language of the Ivanhelm Mage's College. Sora and Rhiannon revealed the odd ways of Quidor and the three pondered over the strangeness of the town. Their deliberation was interrupted by a rather jovial looking figure emerging from the casino. A sharp-looking human mage strode towards them looking utterly invincible. She introduced herself as Arielo and explained her complicated relationship with Quidor and his gambling house. The four talked of their suspicions of the town and its leading figures and Arielo invited the adventurers to join her and her partner, Shamail at the Mage's shop in the town square.
