i dislike u Tradition / Ritual in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

i dislike u

Just as it sounds, the i dislike u is a tradition involving two unspoken enemies uniting in a passive hatred. In this, two will become one through a semi-ancient Fendwee Fweedum ritual, and will--from that moment on--be dismissive of the other's existence.

History

While founding his religion, AduWobble Weedow FehWah would often come into contact with... unpleasant individuals. He realized that a world without some kind of separation would be degrading to a Fluxer's mental health, and proposed a simple solution. By taking part in i dislike u, one can peacefully protest their enemy's existence in this world while maintaining a pleasant demeanor in public. Because of this, it evolved into a cultural tradition that is often used in jest among lower classes and seriously in the higher ones.

Unfortunately, becoming an integral part of society had its drawbacks, and the word "dislike" was soon associated with Lowland thugs. The phrase itself is considered to be impolite at best and downright unacceptable behavior at worst; the practical religious phrase of accepting a mutual "dislike" was now barred from children by their nannies and scorned by good society. That is, unless it was meant to demean a rival or enemy.

Execution

Approach intended target--often with a cheap/undesirable gift--then speak the incantation: "i dislike u".

Participants

In a one-way execution, there is one to speak the phrase and another to receive it. There are--on rare occasions--occurrences where the two band together and speak it at once, but this event would be considered an anomaly.

Author's Notes

It's pretty much just walking up to someone and saying "i dislike u" to their face. This is still a work in progress.
