Solon

"It is no waste for a whole garden to be planted, grown, and trimmed, just to capture the bloom of a single perfect rose. When the great destroyer Kthon led his treacherous revolt to cast me from my rightful throne I personally met him in battle, cut out his eye, his essence bleeding on the field inspiring my children into nearly driving Kthon's brood to extinction. When I learned my wife had aided Kthon I cursed her and her clan to forever be destined to be blinded by the sun. Though they chose to drive themselves deeper into the darkness where they remain to this day, I did not destroy them. Why? Although my wife may be lost her clan and house continue on, growing like a unique flower that continues to develop their uniqueness. I am patient and willing to wait until one among them, like the perfect rose, reaches perfection."
- Solon from the epic poem "The Therianesay Odyssey"

SOLON (CG) Greater Power. God of Music, Art, Craft, War, and Poetry, the Father of the Aelfeayr Clans.

Solon Aelfeayr is the son of Nirskigaia when she bathed in The Water of Life. Representing the highest ideals of elven kind, he is the wellspring of skill in all the arts, music, poetry, and all artisans works including that of magical craft. The god is also mighty in battle, having shown true merit in the Godswar, and is said to have personally banished an entire pantheon attempting to take advantage of the chaos. Elven lore states that the elves sprang from the drops of blood Solon shed in this epic battle where he used a magical bow from which he never missed and a magic sword made from a star that burns all who try to hold it save Solon. The faithful of Solon Aelfeayr build no shrines but use natural geological formations or amphitheaters for places of worship. Clerics are expected to be leaders of communities in many ways. They take a leading role in developing their own and training others in combat skills, magic, and arts and crafts. Individual priests of the faith are presumed to specialize in at least one of these roles in addition to being expected to mediate any disputes and to maintain good relations with clerics of other faiths, especially sylvan deities. Holy warriors and knightly orders of Solon are not uncommon though they do tend to be separated from other orders by their pursuit of a more traditional sylvan way. These followers exalt high culture, refined tastes, and nobility. Everything they do is raised to a level of exquisite refinement lest it becomes droll or uncouth. Archery, swordsmanship, and Spellcraft are treated as fine arts, and competitions (including hunting) are part of sacred tradition. The formal duel adapted by many of the Ancient Noble Houses is based on these traditions and some of the finest duelists in the world are the cleric-knights of Solon. The church often seeks to protect or promote fine arts acting as patrons for bards. Adventurers may even be commissioned to procure art objects supporting exclusive museums of high civilization and wild nature ideally intertwined so one reflects and complements the other. Noble houses of the elf clans and many churches and temples incorporate beautiful natural shrines and entire forests kept as sacred hunting grounds. Parables of how the ideal gentleman should conduct themselves often use plants and animals as illustrative examples. Some theologians note that priests of Nirskigaia are similar in this regard, pointing to nature to illustrate ideal conduct where all living things like fine unicorn stallions or elaborate gardens with awakened trees are treated with the greatest respect on pain of suffering severe punishment or even death if wronged.
