The Cragbor Arms Tavern, Six Windows Inn   Cragbor is at the junction of the Long Road and Evermore Way, due west of Titanbridge, its traditional rival. A town with a population of around 2500, over the centuries it has been the assembly point for human armies in response to the rise of orcnean hordes from the mountains in the north who managed to find their way along the Meander. Its name is thought to reflect a traveler's tale of the village founder killing the largest boar ever seen in the world atop the crag where the Lord Protector’s Keep now stands. In fact, the raising the foundation of the keep was done on that very same day in order to build a cooking fire large enough and hot enough to cook the beast for a grand feast of the founder and his followers. After having their full they were so stuffed they refused to go any farther with Hvall and stayed around the Boar’s Crag thereafter. This is why the lord protector's banner has the big black boar on it to this day. The town is ruled by a democratically elected lord protector. His or her task is to command the town's militia and to settle disputes. The town's legal system is called "The Lord's Decree" and the lord protector has the power to amend this system at will. The previous ruler, Faurael Blackhammer, was killed fighting off the demonic forces that overran the defenses at Titanbridge. The town operates a defence force called "The Twelve" which consists of this many mounted patrols that rotate in a tenday cycle. If necessary, the town can rally together a well-armed militia of fifty rapidly and three hundred in a day. Mountain ponies and other horses are for sale in the town, as well as harnesses and wagons. Guides are available for destinations anywhere in the North although they require a deposit of eleven days' pay. Many of these guides are local ex-adventurers. Gwaeron's Slumber: Cragbor is said to be the resting place of a god named Gwaeron Windstrom, the Tracker Who Never Goes Astray. He's said to sleep in this stand of trees just west of town. Rangers who venerate Mielikki often visit Gwaeron's Slumber to pray, but there's no shrine here. It's said that worshipers of Mielikki who sleep in this wood receive hints in their dreams of what the goddess wants them to do. If the worshiper isn't a ranger, the person gains a once-in-a-lifetime, day-long ability to track as a ranger does. To avoid angering Gwaeron, laws forbid cutting any trees or hunting in the woods. The local militia patrols the grove to prevent orcneas, trolls, and other such creatures from camping there - but less intelligent monsters have never been seen in Gwaeron’s Slumber. Although the rivalry between Cragbor and the neighboring Titansbridge is usually friendly, there have been occasions when it has erupted into violence over a particular incident.
