Cherawood (Widow’s Wood)

This wood's reputation as a hunting ground for dire beasts, hydras, and dragons has preserved it from woodcutters and settlers from Citadel, or anywhere else for that matter. The forest has been called home by satyrs, dryads, a small number of werewolves, and some believe wolfweres who dwell within. Also known as Widow’s Wood due to a legend of star-crossed love between a princess and her cursed lover, it remains a dense forest south of The Black Waters of the Dubglas River, southeast of Citadel and west of Bardusk. Wilderness, except for an old Tower on the forest's southern edge and the ruins of a tower that once defended the southernmost border patrolled by the elf city of Vuldoon that once stretched to the north along the western shores near where the Kryptegardn now stands. The present-day forest that remains is supported by organic-rich soil dominated by large specimens of moisture-loving trees such as swamp white oak, black willow, and green ash which tower over thick undergrowth. Before it was named Charawood it was called Glimmerwood by elves that no longer live there who used the Aether Rune, a magical gate in the area. The forest has been rumored to be the home to The Wolflord and his lycanthropic followers trying to rebuild Vuldoon. For years Citadel has been preparing for an attack by his army of werewolves, to the length of accumulating silvered weapons and keeping a steady patrol of eyes on the Widow’s Woods for signs of this lycanthrope army.
