The World Star

The world star was once one of the most important ways for people to navigate the world. Residing somewhere right above the center of the world and bright enough to be visible with the naked eye it has helped countless civilization throughout the ages to navigate. When the world started collapsing, it served an even more important purpose of showing people towards the falling city and the last pieces of safe ground. Having previously been associated a lot with travel, the world star has been attributed to everything from benevolent gods, the birth of the world, or really lucky geography. With the stressful situation, most people found themselves in fleeing their homes the more supernatural explanations gained popularity. As the world shrank in size, the world star got less and less important for navigation, only really being useful to tell if you're looking straight up or not, but it has remained a symbol of the city and the hope it provides. Some religions even consider the star to still be a way pointer, showing the way to a greater plane of existence above the crumbling earth below. Others believe it watches over the city, sworn to protect it and it's people from the abyss below.  The world star also adorns the falling city crests, symbolizing all the journey that lead to it and something all cultures and civilizations shared a vision off, to guide them into finding new ways forward together. The star is represented as white with six points, representing the major directions on a map and often on a black or dark blue background. If on a white background it is tradition to use blue paint to represent the cool light of the star, but both yellow and red have seen much use as well.
