Signs of collapse

Throughout the years since the first collapse, people have learned what the warning signs of a collapse are and can even make a fairly accurate prediction on when a certain place might fall and where the faultline will be. Using this knowledge the whole city is divided into different zones of risk, detailing which districts might fall within weeks, within months, and those who are predicted to stand for years to come. Along with maps, the parts are also marked with different symbols throughout the city to help The organizers know which parts need to be evacuated within a near future, and which districts are safe to move to. Since getting a sign on your door saying you might fall into the abyss within a few days tends to make people panic a bit, and the stable ground is highly sought after, the meaning of the symbols isn't common knowledge. Only the scientists tasked with judging the risk of collapse and the organizers can interpret exactly what the symbols mean. Of course, it's still common knowledge that the edges are more unstable than being closer to the city center. There are four basic symbols which are then complemented with other smaller symbols to give a more exact timeframe. The first signifies less than a week left, the second less than a month, the third less than a year, and the fourth more than a year. Each symbol is unique to prevent someone from easily figuring out the progression. A series of dots show in which quarter of the timeframe you are. For example, the symbol for less than a month along with one dot means half a month is left, the symbol for less than a year with two means half a year left, etc. The symbol for more than a year instead gets as many dots as its years into the future.
