Naimitsu

Naimitsu or 'Dark Elves' are an ethnicity of elves bred for stealth and subterfuge. Like all elvish ethnic groups, they are considered lesser than Eladrin. But Naimitsu are the lowest of the low, held in even lower regard than Sabanto elves.   Once these elves were held in great esteem as the protectors of royal elven houses. But eventually their reputation for spy work and assassinations resulted in them taking a fall from grace and now it is rare to find one of these elves in any place of power.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

Most Naimitsu female names revolve around the idea of grace and quick movements. This can include names like Higuraicu, Supin, and Oru.

Masculine names

Male Naimitsu names revolve around the idea of violence and assassination. This can indlude names like Kaibo, Makes, and Chinmoku.

Family names

Fujibayashi is the most well known family of Naimitsu, having served the warrior cast for centuries before the Naimitsu fell out of favor. But Mochizuki and Sandayu are other known Naimitsu houses.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Unlike most elves, Naimitsu speak a rare form of elvish often called in the common tongue as 'Dark Elvish.' This version of elvish uses abbreviated forms of words as to convey as much information as possible in as few words as possible. Because of this verbal short hand, many outsiders can be confused by the rapid pace of their sentences and the seeming lack of structure to their words.

Culture and cultural heritage

They were bred for subterfuge and stealth. To this day, they hold their ability to blend in with shadows and walk unnoticed as being a key part of their cultural identity. Now that they are no longer serving the upper class, Naimitsu have developed a culture of thievery and mercenary work. Unlike halflings who have a similar culture, Naimitsu do not form into large organizations. Rather they mostly work alone for anyone who is willing to pay them.
