General Physical Condition
Alvar is a large man, very broad with a bulging stomach. Though he is not skilled in any form of battle like sword play or archery, he has a menacing presence which people find unnerving.

Personal history
Alvar Birg was born to his father, Lord Salzar Birg and his wife Lady Ophilia Birg nee Hartree, in 1075 ABM in Port Olive. His father, Lord of Port Olive was a proud man and a veteran of many battles. He had served alongside King Regulus during the Battle of the Golden Crossing and had plans on sending his son to the Capital to train alongside Regulus's son, Prince Magnus. Unfortunately, Alvar showed little promise for his abilities with weapons. Salzar loathed his son due to his portly, soft stature and inability in battle, despite Alvar's constant desires to impress his father.
Education
Where Alvar failed physically, his intelligence was beyond a child of his age. Alvar would thrive working through his father’s ledgers and would often come up with ways to show his father where extra money could be made in the Port. Despite his efforts, his father scourged him at every turn, telling Alvar money doesn't matter if you can't defend yourself. The sentiment stuck with Alvar. Alvar begun to fiddle with his father's ledgers and using the unaccounted-for money to hire "friends" to protect him.
Accomplishments & Achievements
In 1108 ABM, Salzar died of an unknown disease after coming into contact with a wayward ship which had pulled into the port. The ship, manned only by a few remaining men, was rife with dead bodies and Salzar, being the proud leader, was the first of his men to board the ship to find survivors. Unfortunately, this resulted in Salzar and most of the men who aided the excavation dying in a similar manner as the crew.
With his father dead, Alvar inherited his father’s lordship and begun to rule Port Olive. Before long, Lord Alvar had the economy of Port Olive thriving. By increasing the taxes on goods coming from overseas and the rent of stalls in the market and ports Port Olive begun to thrive. Lord Alvar invested the money in rebuilding the port, making it a destination for many luxurious traders to come bring their wares. Where the markets would trade fish and grain, now shops sprung where jewels and fine clothing could be purchased. Alvar eventually marries a highborn lady.
Eventually Alvar begins to focus his attention to building a personal army. He speaks to neighbouring villages and towns, slowly assimilating them into Port Olive and it’ protections. Before long, Alvar’s personal army rivals that of the Great Lords of the Four Cities.
In 1110 his first son Theo is born.
In 1122, Lord Alvar Birg is called to the Capital to serve as Royal Banker to the realm after his impressive turn around of Port Olive. His tax increases and tolls on entering the city are not well received by common folk and high society alike. Though through this the wealth of Montheus increases and necessary repairs to the city are made, restoring it to its former glory. Alvar “gifts” money in the Church of the Five and becomes a prominent figure throughout the capital. Lord Alvar becomes a trusted advisor of King Magnus, who considers Alvar family due to the close nature of their late fathers. Alvar’s cunning mind is crucial in the squabbles of Lords and Lady’s and he quickly overshadows the current Prime Minister. His Commissioners, known as the Fingers, scoured the land, collecting taxes from all.
In 1127 ABM, Queen Marjorie dies in labour. Unable to fulfil his kingly duties, King Magnus removes the former Prime Minister from power and bestows Lord Alvar the role of Prime Minister of Enther. As the King wanes, Birg begins to make changes to law. He instructs for the Royal Army to be bolstered under the pretences of growing outside threats and implements a new tax which orders a third of every man and woman’s earnings to be reaped and given to the capital to pay and supply for the Royal Army. Birg’s personal army also continues to grow, and combining with the Royal Army becomes a force that no other lord can contest with. As Prime Minister, Birg keeps an inner circle of advisors.
Mental Trauma
During his first year as Prime Minister, he and King Magnus are visited by The Three in One. The Three in One, old and powerful seers tell of the impending doom approaching Enther and that they must find away to prevent this. They give the King an hourglass, full of black sand which falls upwards. One the day the last grain rises, darkness will consume the world.
As the King became more recluse since the death of his Queen, Birg carries this knowledge alone. He decrees within himself that he is the only one who can save Enther and must do all he can no matter the cost to save his country.

Motivation
Alvar's main focus in his role as Prime Minister is strengthening the class divide as he believes with the upcoming doom prophesied to him, he decides he can not save everyone and only the elite can survive.
in Enther. He is selfish and is said to be ruthless when it comes to his decisions with regards to the welfare of the common people.
Vices & Personality flaws
Alvar has a deep-rooted distrust for the Fairfolk. Much like the majority of Enther, Birg was brought up on stories of the fairfolk being treacherous and dangerous. These prejudices he carries can be seen rubbing of when gouverning the country, particularly considering the folkless who live outside of the fairfolk domains.
Alvar also has an addiction to Moon Spice. Using Moon Spice had become a vice after receiving the prophecy from The Three In One.
