Wildcross

This small village sits in the mighty taiga below the great mountain line and to the northwest of the draconic wastelands. It sits as the last point of civilisation before most adventurers go out into the mountainous wildlands or the taiga beyond. Although describing the area from the dwarven city of Molgroth to Wildcross as civilized is generous at best.   It takes a special mind to live in a place like this, over a month of travel on foot to the nearest city. This attracts people that for example either don't like visitors are in hiding from the law. However, the community is isolated enough that they can't really live without helping each other, while the village folk's past might not be pretty they have created a place in the world for themself.  

Food

One major issue in the village is that is very difficult to make enough food for the although small still substantial population. The climate is too cold to grow any conventional crops due to the village being at or below the freezing point of water during most of the year. To solve this they bred crops that grow that much faster, partly thanks to the help of a professor from The Arcane Alliance which specialises in agricultural magic. There is however still a big issue with only being able to farm the land for one-quarter of the year which means that they have to import food from the Molgroth market during the months right before the farming season. This costs the village resources that it could otherwise use to build up the village, currently, their biggest export is wood, specifically wooden furniture and storage.  

Government

The government is surprisingly democratic and consists of one member of each household of which there are approximately 50. They officially meet on the last day of the third week every month to talk about any problems that have sprung up that needs to be addressed by the entire community. However, using this council for all decisions to be made would be very inconvenient so on the first council of the year they elect 3 people that any citizen can go to for an immediate decision on something more urgent. Generally, this is not very exploited as it is very easy for the citizens to pinpoint from whom an issue originates. The village has no gates or permanent guards at the entrances but instead, have a few men that any citizen can go to if there is any trouble, they also intervene in the occasional fights that break out. Even in a tightly knit community like Wildcross you can expect both verbal and physical fights to be common.
