The Battlefield Of Dragons

This one shot is about the city of Nightwell and a fight between two dragons. For many years dragons have been put away thanks to the mythal of the city. But now, it has been weakening and now The Arcane Alliance has been pulling scholars, professors and archmages back from various missions and courts to protect their home and capital. While they are kept busy by this pursuit two dragons, Vuthia and Ilizinnii has put their eyes on the settlement and want to claim it within their domain.

Plot points/Scenes

Introductory Scene

The players have been called to audience of the town council. Town hall is a massive building towering over the rest, it's beautiful architecture showing its prowess. Inside the halls are decked out with tables of rich mahogany and in the front is a reception where a human, bored out of his mind sits awaiting them. When they enter the meeting room the walls are decorated with the flags of the different schools of magic with two flags, one at each end; one is the flag of Nightwell and the other is the flag of The Arcane Alliance.
In this meeting there are a couple of important people:

• Brynjolf(m), a dwarf that oversees the blast furnace below the ground level.
• Cutha(f), a commander and the supreme leader within the townsguard.
• Philip Extor(m), a professor in magical tactics for The Arcane Alliance
• Arthur(m), a bladesinger scholar that studies under Philip.
• Alothel(f), a half-elf diplomat looking for a peaceful solution
• Mel A'Dhoor(m), archmage of evocation

Cutha leads the meeting and will explain the situation:

Heroes, Commanders and fine gentlemen of the north. We have a dire situation, we do not have only 1 dragon in the vacinity, but two. THey have their eyes set on Nightwell. One of the dragons has been here for hundreds of years but we have a new red dragon somewhere south of the city. So gentlemen, what are we doing?

Exposition

Welcome to the Enchanted Realms of Auria and the ancient continent of Vallaheim. From the southwest to the northeast you can find uncountable cultures, people and beautiful landmarks. You are in the region known as the civilized north and in the metropolis of Nightwell. You have been called to town hall for a mission of dangerous nature.

Conflict

Two dragons have set their eyes on Nightwell and wants to claim it is as the dragons' domain. It is the characters job to solve the conflict.

The Lair of Vuthion

Vuthion is an adult red dragon, he is known for her ruthless nature as most red dragons are. His lair is southeast of the settlement atop what was once an active volcano. Now the only magma that flows through it is melted through the power of the dragon's ambient magic. She used to lair way south in the vauxi mountains but was pushed out adventurers from Eternity's End.

Encounter

This lair is relatively new and thus, the dragon hasn't really taken enough time to fully control it as he only has lived there for aproximately 15 years, since Ilizinnii went to into a very long hibernation. The lair only has two entries, through the caverns and from the hole where the once active volcano erupted. The distance from the opening to the platform is 2000 feet. If they have sided with Ilizinni she will let them ride to get down and otherwise, they can get down via a fly spell, gryffins or any other flying mounts.
On the first round of combat 1d3 fire elementals jump up and emerge from the lava splatter. If the number is less then 3, a fire elemental emerges from lava every round after that at initiative 20 until a total of 3 have spawned. After the elementals are defeated, Vuthion emerges from a cliff level(that leads to his treasure hoard) 30 feet above them. If Ilizinni is with them, he will roar imidiatly and rush at the dragon to do a multiattack. On every round at initiative 20 a fire elemental spawns until a total of 6 have spawned(so 3 after combat has started).
As most red dragons, Vuthion is arrogant. He will chat with them unless they are aggressive, he can make an "alliance" to take out Ilizinnii which is more powerful, even though he won't admit it. If they are alone, he won't use his breath weapon unless it's neccessary as he doesn't want to burn any valuables they carry.

The Lair of Ilizinnii

Ilizinnii is a red dragon, atleast she used to be. For hundreds of years she has laired to the north of Nightwell and has become a true apex predator. She is the original inhabitant of this area and wants to thwart off Vuthion.
