Cursed Basin

The Cursed Basin is a swampland located on the Vauxian Coast and the south of The Trithian Dynasty. The swampland was once thriving and alive with highly diverse flora and fauna, this thanks to the black dragon Ysra that laired there. During the early to mid 800s, Ysra was beginning to reach her last stage of life. She moved eastward, towards the draconic wastelands. Her fate after reaching the draconic wastelands is unknown to the people that neighbour there, in the Prothian Empire. Some professors of draconic lore speculate that Ysra like many black dragons are very "cunning" in trying to escape death and has tried to become a dracolich. However, this has not been confirmed.
That Ysra left has proven quite a big issue, the marsh has been starting to dry up in some places, it has started to shrink starting in the north. It seems like the dragon has altered the location's ecosystem to a greater degree than some estimated. The Arcane Alliance has discussed trying to relocate a dragon there but haven't found any to do so with as they are almost impossible to converse with. Many outsiders believe the swamp to be partly doomed and that once the dragon's influence fully leave the area most of the swamp will have dried up to the point of the planes that surround it.

Geography

The basin is not that big by area and if it had not been swamp it would be easily traversed in a couple of days but the mud and wetlands make it very difficult to move through, all of the water is undrinkable except to creatures that are native to this area. The only way for travellers or adventurers to find drinkable water in the lands is by magical means, either by something akin to Purify Food and Drink or Create Food and Water.

Fauna & Flora

The current flora and fauna consist mainly of smaller beings like insects, although they themselves grow quite large for their species. For a very long time, some tribes of lizardfolk have made the swamp their home. This despite the best efforts of the The Trithian Dynasty to rid the lands of them.
There are three distinct tribes of lizardfolk within the swamp, two of which are very primitive and live out of caves and waters while one of them have made some more technological advances, making huts to protect them from the harsh land in addition to more simple weapons like spears and shields.
