Amamassi of Both

"She's up there," Victoria pointed up to the top of the tapestry where a figure with curly golden hair and rich blue robes was positioned. The figure had two outstretched hands, the right held wheat, plows, crowns, and jewels. The left hand was illuminated in light and held feathers, leaves, two clock hands, fire, and snow. "That's Amamassi."

I cock my head to get a better angle. "Amamassi?"

"Yes," Victoria sighs and grabs my hands, hoisting my upon her shoulders so I might have a better view of this mystical person in front of me. "Do you remember the story?" I shake my head. Victoria point's to Amamassi's left hand. "Who's this?"

My young brain searched for connections, and then shouted, "Us!" and at the same time, held my hand close to the work of art and produced a glow of light from my left hand. The gold woven in the tapestry glinted, bouncing my light into every corner in the room.

Victoria laughed, "Yes Ione," She pointed to the right hand, "Who's that?"

I pouted, "Them," and I lost hold of my power and the room turned darker, our vision relying on the soft glow of the oil lamps.

"That's right. Amamassi was a hero. Amamassi was born of both, and connected us both and used to be a hero."

"I don't understand."

"That's alright. Amamassi solved the conflict of Gifted and Non, and connected us."

"It's not like that anymore."

"No, peace did not last long."

"Vic, is Amamassi a girl?"

"Depends on who you ask."

"What if I'm asking you?"

"I would say Amamassi is a girl. I believe only a female could connect two totally different people."

"What would The Guard think?"

"They think Amamassi is a male because Amamassi was strong enough to win the thousand year war."

"And the religious?"

"They think Amamassi was both and neither."

"Amazing."

"Yes." We stare at Amamassi a bit longer. "You know Ione, we're going to be like her someday."

"We are?"

"Yes. We're going to bring peace again."

"Can Even and West help?"

"Of course. We're going to need all the help we can get."

Summary

Amamassi was around 782 VE. Amamassi was born from a Gifted mother, and a noble, who when they had their affair, didn't know Amamassi's mother was a powerful Ventus. When Amamassi's mother died of unexplained causes, Amamassi's father took his child in, and raised Amamassi to be the most powerful weapon in his army, because unlike most Gifted who was born from a pure bloodline, Amamassi was born from a torn family, and instead of making the legend weaker, it made Amamassi's Gifts stronger, and the legend's father was unafraid to take Amamassi's power for himself. Amamassi flees, afraid of the consequences the father would unleash, and disappears into the forest of Aleddòn, but instead of just laying low, Amamassi forms an army, to finally finish the Thousand Year War between Gifted and Non. Amamassi wins battle after battle and when the Gifted and Non think that the opponent is about to win, they both come up with plans to assassinate Amamassi, and when Amamassi declares yet another victory, a scout from the Gifted army shoots Amamassi with a poisoned arrow and kills Amamassi. After Amamassi's death, it's revealed that Amamassi wasn't Gifted and wasn't Non, and was both, and strived so callously to end the war and just have peace, they declare Amamassi the winner, which Amamassi should have been if the legend hadn't been killed right before.

Historical Basis

Amamassi's story was actually real and recorded by many real figures as well as Gwen Jackson, and Fin'n Smith, Amamassi's closest friends, although many people currently believe that Amamassi is a complete myth.   Most of the myth is true, but being born to a Gifted mother and a Non-father doesn't affect the strength of Amamassi, this is just what the people used to believe, and this knowledge actually decreased the number of people who believe in the myth of Amamassi of Both.

Spread

After the war, and at the start of the new era, (Incipiens Era) the legend of Amamassi was spread through the entire Eight Kingdoms, and even into Barzi and Effelion, but after the Treaty of the Thousand Year War was broken by King Richard Kondell, the myth disappeared, and most people whenever they see art of Amamassi don't know who it is.

Cultural Reception

The gender of Amamassi is unknown, and the only person who knows for certain is Fin'n Smith, the only living patriot of The Thousand Year War, a Gifted with the Gift of Temptese (time), and is 594 years old, but Fin'n currently lives in Barzi, and nobody knows where he is, so different people and cultures guess Amamassi's gender, and well as Amamassi's powers. Several groups think the legend's powers were compiled from the general elements, (Cold, Heat, Earth, Water, Air, Animal,) but Amamassi's powers vary from group to group.

In Art

There are mainly tapestries of Amamassi, and a few statues, but if you research hard enough, you can find a few ballads of Amamassi in religious books.
