Session 1: The Star Tide Report

General Summary

Our tale begins with the arrival of the PARRRRRR....TEA at the Temple of the Arched Sky. The party began their search of the temple as hired to do so by Cendrail the Stargazer to search for a way to help locate the Fallen Star. They stumbled upon the remnants of the camp of the expedition of Magnus Barrelblock.
Pushing further into the temple, they found the remains of the temple's former owners that had been plundered by the previous expedition, but were able to locate a mysterious silk robe hidden behind a locked door. The robe was promptly taken by Yosyn Athryn, who also took the fine wooden chest it was stored in. They followed tracks on the floor that they discerned were not of a humanoid creature back to a fresh water pool, that both Yosyn Athryn and Matu took some time swimming in, while Velda Wexler sat casually on the side of the pool. After some time, they pushed further into the temple and found a strange orrery where they attempted to uncover the secrets of it. During which several shenanigans occurred including a personality swap, large feet, shrinking and accidental aging.  They were able to gain some benefits though, with Matu getting a short protection from death and the whole party getting blessed.  They continued down into the temple in search of the help Cendrail sent them there to find.  They made it to a room where they found a locked door and a halfling body on the floor, and during this the spirit of Magnus Barrelblock appeared, who was genuinely curious about the party and there reason for being there.
After some searching and some help from Magnus, who convinced Matu to allow him to posses him, Matu was able to enter the next room and obtain the Astral Compass , a powerful item that would allow them to track down the fallen star.  Upon obtaining the item, Matu was locked in the room when the temple shook.  After trying several methods, and Velda getting hit by poison needles, Matu was able to escape.  The party began their exit of the temple but were set back when Velda was hit with a beam of radiant energy in a room designed to mimic the star system.  The remaining party members were able to save her, rest up and then figured out the path through the room with the assistance of some star charts.  They were then able to avoid the remaining traps in the temple and were almost out when they were blocked by a large creature, a dragonskull hermit crab.  The creature seemed to only want to protect its home, so the party was able to nimbly avoid it and escape through a underwater pathway.  Before exiting the temple, Matu discovered a small star fragment that fit perfectly into the Astral Compass, which now contained two such pieces.  After a rather rude goodbye from Yosyn, the party made their way out of the temple and into the Bandit Brakes .
