Effect

It’s a portal that is used to travel quickly to another place. Typically used to travel to other planets but also frequently used to go to other places on the same planet as well.

Manifestation

Portals look like a hole, surrounded by a flame-like glow.

For Devils the colour will be based on the caster’s Personality Type (red, orange, indigo, blue, green, yellow, or purple)

For Angels it will be based on wing colour (white, silver, black, or golden)

Other species: Usually Pale blue

Artificial: Gray

They make a sort of humming/buzzing sound.

As the name suggests, the source of the portal is the Ether, which is what the fabric of space itself is made of. So the portal sort of compresses space to make the distance between the two points much shorter than it would normally be.

Material Components

Magic users do not need anything special to cast the spell, however a device is possible to make so that non-casters can also use the Ether for travel.

Gestures & Ritual

Weaker casters have to snap their fingers to get the Portals to work, whereas strong casters can do so with just a thought. However since the spell takes concentration, even strong users use the gesture when otherwise distracted. Or just to be dramatic.

Effect Duration

Portals can stay open for up to two minutes, if left open.

Effect Casting Time

5 seconds for weak casters to less than a second for the strongest.

Range

The strongest magic users can travel most of the Universe with one portal.

Level

Only the weakest of magic users cannot use the spell, however that is a very small percentage of beings.

Applied Restriction

Can’t be cast if there is no surface to cast it on.
