Nordic Winged Eel

The Nordic Winged Eel is a native of Nordic Frog Beach. They are a triphibious predator that roosts on the high mountain cliffs of Nordic Frog Beach's continental interiors. They can reach lengths greater than 8 meters in their old age, and can live to be 50 years old. Their jaw secretes a paralytic poison that they can shoot from sacs to paralyze their foes. They were evolved to dive from high cliffs into the ocean in order to hunt large aquatic fauna. In times of great need, they can also eat seaweed.

Anatomy

The Nordic Winged Frog has slimy skin ideal for sliding through water quickly. It has two large, webbed feet which it uses to powerfully push through the water. It has batlike wings that it can use to fly long distances at a moderate pace. Its body is long and sinuous and muscular, and its teeth are sharp and merciless.

Genetics and Reproduction

These creatures lay one egg approximately every 10 years. They mate for short periods of time in order to fertilize the egg and ensure that the newborn survives infancy, but otherwise are solitary creatures.

Growth Rate & Stages

When born, the Nordic Winged Eel is already able to fly. It is approximately 1ft (0.3m) long when born, and grow to the prodigious size of 5ft (1.5m) in their first month of life. Afterwards, they strike out on their own.

Ecology and Habitats

The Nordic Winged Eel creates nests on outcroppings in high mountains. Because it is able to carve shelves into rock, it can nest in places that no other creature can reach them. They only nest in mountains near large bodies of water, however, because their primary source of food is large aquatic prey.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Nordic Winged Eel have all of the senses that humans have, although they are much more reliant on their senses of smell and hearing and much less on their sense of sight. They also can sense electricity and have a keen sense for vibrations when underwater.
