The Lorekeepers

an organization devoted to knowledge, and sprung from the early tradition of chroniclers, begining with Regigermus of the progenitor elves, the lorekeepers are an organization spanning monasteries of monks, collectives of sages within the arcane, and in some cases, even mercenary bands take upon themselves the banner of the lorekeepers. their tenants are to always gather knowledge of the world, to learn all which has been lost. its a task of great difficulty, but one they strive for with such vigor that it's hard not to get caught up in their winds.

The history of the lorekeepers is near as old as the world itself. formed, some say, after the terror that was the dark age of the fourth cycle.

Legacy

The gifts the lorekeepers have bestowed on the world are irrefutable in their worth, gifts of knowlage, some locked away in ancient libraries, some carried for generations by wandering bands of anything from human and halfling, to goblin and orc. their system of recording history and catagorizing events, a framework used by near all races across the sphere of the material plane, other planes, and are some rumors to be belived, even the vast stars beyond the sphear of mater.

The system of recording that the Lorekeepers use is one that divides all of the history of the world, this task is one that requires segmenting it, for the lorekeeprs, the following system is used:

Cycle

A cycle is a timespan that offten outlasts even the long lived races, timespans of multiple millennia, caped by events of proportions to threaten the worlds as they are known. at times, these events end in catastrophy, such as was the case in the early cycles. sometimes they are wars of gods, such as the 13th. There is as well a theory of how the cycles work, posed by the first lich, Lazerus, though his theory is well guarded, and he seldom speaks of it, only mentioning how "It is not ready yet, I still need more information"

Era

A era is defined by the people who live after it, these are periods of hundreds of years, and can verry between locations, as diffrent parts of the worlds mark eras diffrently.
