Arkror's Fall - The Capital

Population of 1.2 million The capital of the Empire and of worship for both The Twins and Arkror followers, much to the dismay of them both. Worshipers regularly fight over entry into the Temple of Ignus.   The Temple of Ignus is designed to open partially or fully during the night and eclipses to cast the light from the Stone of Ignus around the city, otherwise it’s mostly closed. There are mirrors that redirect the light of the sun into the stone, further charging it with energy that is said to keep shadow creatures at bay, keeping the city safe.   The city itself was built in three separate stages, Old Town, the Merchants District, and New Town, each built in different ages of the empire.   The city is predominantly human, with just a few Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes who call the city home. Blood Orcs are somewhat common but aren’t treated well by most. The short races are treated particularly poorly.   While the emperor himself is the legal ruler of the capital, the Imperial Court oversees the majority of day to day and larger picture management.   Despite Ulrich’s Law making racism and discrimination illegal, Humans are the de facto rulers and masters of the city. Every business is owned by a human, whether or not it is run by an Elf, Dwarf, or whatever.   A relatively small number of gangs passively oversee the black markets within the city. About half of the gangs are non-human, as the humans are still oppressive and racist, leaving fewer opportunities for non-humans so they are forced to resort to crime. Several officials are known to be corrupted but the Empire has done remarkably little to fix this since the large.   Arkror’s Fall is the only producer of Sun Stones within the Empire. These magical rocks emit light that can be altered in various ways, including being turned into so called “Hard Light” which can become solid. Being nearly in the middle of the habitable part of the continent, it is also the center of trade. However, Riversmeet a few days away is a very strong trade contender and, being outside of the Imperial Court’s gaze, Riversmeet has a more robust underground market.
