Mad Gnome's Disease

"Illasandra is not to be toyed with. We've received exactly zero reports of the effects of her disease, but that's not from lack of trying. Caution is key." -Dr. Rockwell

Transmission & Vectors

The nature of the disease is largely unknown; all that is known is that it's some variation of insanity that slowly consumes the mind from exposure.

Causes

Reportedly spread and created by Illasandra, Shardmind of the West.

Symptoms

There are many stages of the disease, most of which are unknown to the common folk of Wratholme. The ones discovered by the party include:   1-10: “The smatterings of a different kind of madness set in; one of horrific paranoia, warped perceptions, and loss of control. It feels as though hooks have sunk into your brain, tugging in all different directions. Your tongue tastes citrus, and your thoughts hasten anxiously.”   11-20: “You grow restless.” {Long Rests only confer the benefits of a short rest}   21-30: “A panging headache sets in.” {Wisdom Checks are at disadvantage}   31-40: “People begin to annoy you.” {Charisma Checks are at disadvantage}   41-50: “Your mind feels vulnerable and exposed.” {Vulnerable to psychic damage}   51-60: “You grow wary of your allies. They might be plotting your demise.” {Cannot end your turn within 5 feet of another creature.}   61-70: “The constant stress of the disease weakens your mental defenses.” {Disadvantage on charisma and wisdom saving throws}

Treatment

Treatment of the disease is unknown to even the best scientists in Wratholme. Dr. Rockwell recommended bringing something you love, as a possible barrier to the psychological effects.

Prevention
