Clarity

Clarity

A Tiefling Wizard from the 8th Level of Baator, Clarity escaped the Nine Hells with the assistance of The Fated, who in return demanded she complete a favor for every level they led her through. She learned of Søren’s whereabouts through a mutual acquaintance Weyer and delivered to him a metal note envelope in Imel’s Happy Tongue on Weyer’s behalf. She joined the party as a potential way to fulfill her goal of mapping all the planes. She is accompanied by an owl familiar named Gwydion and a sentient spellbook named Telamont.   Whilst in the Caverns of Thought, the party came across a Pit Fiend who demanded a deal with her in exchange for being let free. When the party ran, this Duke threatened Clarity’s family. She is now anxious to ensure their safety, certain the Pit Fiend will follow through on their threat.   FAMILY TREE NOT AVAILABLE

I told Caelen about my history with the Fated. I’m not sure why, I’m sure Telamont would think it was a stupid thing to do. But I don’t enjoy keeping secrets and I think he is the most likely to have an understanding, especially since he is apparently wanted by the Harmonium. Although I suppose I am as well, after what happened at the bookstore. I don’t know that he will understand, but I owe Søren an explanation, that was unfair to put him in that situation.   This was the symbol of the Fated that was on the bag I took from that pickpocket. Tivuum, the proprietor of the antiquities store, took the bag from me, which is what started this whole mess in the first place. I will say, it’s a bit of a relief to know that Tinwë and Doc also have some troubles in their pasts coming after them, although I know that doesn’t bode well for us. We’re in the Outlands now, so hopefully that will afford us a brief respite.   Søren had a strange moment with the dragonborn, Yalkulash, who was guarding the warehouse where the portal to the Outlands was hidden. Something flashed on Søren's hand, and Yalkulash had an odd reaction to it and then lowered the cost of entry. Upon Soren asking, he revealed that Søren has a dragonmark, a gift given by one of the true dragons to someone who they deem special or trustworthy, and Søren mentioned that he did something he “probably shouldn’t have done” that the amethyst dragon he was with appreciated. I am extremely curious about the nature of what he did, but I don’t want to press him if he doesn’t want to tell us.   Speaking of the Outlands, we’ve had quite the time so far. Two separate encounters with wyverns left myself and Gwydion a little worse for wear. Tinwë encountered a pair of grey-skinned dwarves while we were sleeping, and we also met a group of Gith’yanki that were travelling with a baby dragon. They had traveled here to raise their young, but had a run-in with the Mercy Killers and their offspring were lost. They introduced themselves as Cireka, Simyaz, and Urlon, and told us we’d have friends in Tu’narath if we ever made our way there. If I’m remembering my studies correctly, the Gith’yanki have ventured into Baator thousands of years ago to create an alliance of sorts with Tiamat, hence the relationship with red dragons. I believe the Fated helped broker that deal.   Gwydion is quite upset with me, and I don’t blame him. I wish I could be a better wizard for him, maybe that would solidify our relationship a little more.

I have now been in Sigil for a week with no leads and less patience. That, however, I believe has changed today. I was finally able to find the warforged Weyer told me to find, an entity named Søren. He described Weyer as being similar to a sister, which I thought was quite sweet. Tangentially, I also met some other interesting characters: a Verdan goblin named Tinwë, and a centaur named Abodochus Timoos, although he prefers “Doc,” who both work for the Happy Tongue. There is also an aasimar, Caelen Strato, who was directed to find me by his fiendish patron. Quite unnerving on many fronts. Regardless, the five of us seemed to form a party of sorts.   Tinwë and Doc are intent on joining one of the many factions of Sigil in an attempt to leave the city and find Doc’s wife, who seems to be lost. We met with Montgomery, a firbolg and representative of the Society of Sensation, one of the factions here. He claims that the Society is the most powerful of the factions, but I have heard that the Fated can go pound for pound with them, as can the Transcendent Order. Our task is to plant a purple rose in “the most void-touched cave” in the Caverns of Thought, and numerous factions have expressed an interest in what grows there. Also, Imel would like us to bring back Torelian Death Cheese, if we happen across any. The Fated seem to be generally not the most liked of the factions here, so I believe I will keep my debts to myself. It is curious to me that this task was set as our proving quest, and yet there are so many factions that know not what this purple rose will grow and still have ample membership. Makes me think we may be being set up.
