Ironwood Armaments Mark III

"IWA Classic"

Invented in 2006, C.E. The Ironwood Armaments Mark III, more commonly known by its civilian production name, the Ironwood Classic, is considered by many in technological and military fields to be a somewhat outdated design, even by the standards of conventional firearms. Even though Ironwood is regarded today as the innovator of viable caseless ammunition firearms, the Mark III was one of their earliest successful products. This single-action semi-auto pistol can be purchased in 11mm IWA Auto, 9mm Cirtreppi, or 10mm IWA Auto. No accessory rail, suppressor compatible.   The Mark III saw military service throughout the factions of Eldureia from 2010-2119, a year after the formation of the Emberleaf Republic when its newly-created armed forces conducted trials to determine its standard arsenal. Caseless Ammunition had become prevalent in the 2110s, and Ironwood Armaments had spent much of the decade innovating a new line of weapons with the technology. They did not submit the Mark III for military trials, and instead offered the new IAP-001 (Ironwood Armaments Pistol 001), which utilised caseless ammunition and featured brand-new fibre-optic illuminated iron sights. Ultimately, the IAP-001 was adopted as the standard service sidearm for the new Emberleaf Republic Armed Forces.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

the Mark III is a short-recoil operated, single-action semi-automatic pistol. It was originally designed (and ordered by militaries) in the 11.43x24mm (.45) Cartridge but is now also available in 9mm and 10mm versions.

Significance

The IWA Mark III was a reliable semi-auto pistol that was used as a sidearm by many of the military factions during the Eldureian war of succession.

Technological Advancement in Boesia

The IWA Mark III was invented in 2094 and was considered settled technology at the time--semi-automatic sidearms and automatic conventional weaponry at the technological level relative to earth in the 20th-21st Century was developed around the same time in Boesia, around the end of the 19th century, contemporary era. Unlike the real-world weapon that the Mark III is based on, the Colt Model 1911, the IWA Mark III was not particularly groundbreaking in the same way--it was, however a reliable weapon based on well-understood technology at the time. Since it was developed earlier in IWA's history, the company was still finding their footing on what it is that they want to do, and as such produced well-made conventional weapons. Ironwood would eventually go on to invent viable caseless ammunition in the year 2110, opening the door for a new age of arms innovation.
