Ironwood Armaments IAP-001 "Republic"

In 2119, the newly created Emberleaf Republic Armed Forces held military trials to determine their standard arsenal. Many of the weapons submitted utilised caseless ammunition, which had been introduced in weaponry earlier that decade. Ironwood Armaments, having previously held the military contract in ELR's predecessor state with their Mark III pistol submitted a powerful caseless sidearm. This weapon, the Ironwood Armaments Pistol 001 was their first sidearm to utilise caseless ammunition. It performed the most reliably out of the other candidates in trials and its innovative fibre-optic illuminated iron sights were very effective in many conditions. Although the pistol was a little less accurate than some of its competitors, the IAP-001 proved to be much more devastating at varying ranges. 
The IAP-001 was adopted as the standard sidearm of the ERAF and retained that position from 2119-2220 when the demand for increased armour penetration and accuracy led the armed forces to phase it out. 
The IAP-001's military designation was the M1 Pistol, since it was the first pistol adopted by the Emberleaf Republic. Due to its adoption, Ironwood Armaments named the civilian production model the Ironwood Armaments Republic, which became one of the most successful handguns of the 22nd century.
