Burmenium
Burmenium is a pure substance, known by its capacity to produce a lot of energy if mixed correctly with other chemicals.
- "There isn't another way mate, we've gotta do this. What are the odds of exploiting? Even if it explodes… Right now we are dead anyways"-Commander Fei Dutt, during the Second Battle of Yaith, talking to his fellow Jade Cots during the Second Battle of Yaith, while debating if they should use Raw Burmenium as fuel to their ship. Raw Burmenium can explode brutally if traces of sulfure are present in the reaction.
Properties
Material Characteristics
The original ore is a hard rock, but when it is processed, it turns into a purple dust. It has no smell, taste or shine.
Physical & Chemical Properties
It is highly radioactive, so generally it is transported in sealed transparent containers.
Compounds
If it is used as fuel, probably you are dealing with Burmenium Trioxide, but if it is used as power storage, it might be either Burmenium Hydroxide or Burmenium Trioxide with other material.
History & Usage
Everyday use
It is used as fuel for big ships mostly, but also as nuclear fuel. It also has some applications in medicine and robotics. When used as fuel, it needs to be mixed with other material(s) such as Underium to react correctly and produce energy.
Refinement
The ore is a hard purple rock that has to be processed multiple times before it can be used. First, most of the ores have other rocks attached. These rocks might be sulfuric materials, other metals, or oxides created by the radiation emitted by the Burmenium itself. After extracting the ore it has to be delivered to a refinery, where it is purified. The final product is a light purple dust substance that is later stored into transparent cylindrical containers for later sale and delivery.
Type
Metal
Value
It is expensive, but not the most expensive. A Kilogram might cost around 3-4 Corenses.
Rarity
Very rare to found, specially in The Core worlds
Common State
The ore is a thick, hard and even shiny rock, as if it was marble. When processed and all the sulfur is removed the final product can't be compared, as it is a very fine dust, as sand sometimes.
