The Monsters Know What They Are Doing

"In older times, the monsters of this land roamed free, able to do what they wished and live as they pleased. Demons, aberrations, monstrosities and beasts alike scoured this land. They were eventually pushed back by the sapient mortal races of Eora, and were forced to retreat to the darkest depths in the ocean, the deepest and most hidden caves, and the planes from which they came. However, there is a small hiccup: they have come back." 
The streets of Rath already have their fair share of problems to deal with, from gang violence and political maneuverings to a rampant drug epidemic, but the thing that has shaken the populace the most is the rumored whisperings of monsters coming back. They have not been sighted in well over 500 years, and many believe that such matters are preposterous. But they hear the howls at night. The cackles escaping the shadowed corners of a nearby alleyway. The bloody stains left on the flagstones. There are things lurking within the city, waiting for a chance to subjugate, to enslave, to destroy, to consume.
