The King's Shield
The personal bodyguard of the King of Tepth carries the title of The King's Shield. Candidates for the rank come from a thin herd of those who have proven their loyalty to crown and kingdom. Many of these hopefuls have spent years in the service of the crown in the ranks of Tepth's military while other would be applicants come from previously working with the king as members of the royal guard or the kings personal guard known as The King's Phalanx.
Qualifications
It should be no surprise that the list of qualifications to become The King's Shield is immense, with the amount of responsibility placed on the holder of this title.
Requirements
The applicant must have served in the ranks of Tepth's military, the Atepthilar City guard, or the royal guard of Tepth.
be able to pass various test of intelligence, strength, wisdom, and constitution. Intelligence for their ability to tactically assess a situation and act accordingly to insure the king's safety at any given moment. The physical strength of a candidate is important and is tested in the forms combat, athletics, and brute strength, there have be occasions when the person chosen was more dexterous than physically powerful. Their wisdom is important as having a bad feeling about something and not acting on it could prove deadly. The King's shield must have a high constitution and the stamina to be able keep going for as long as possible if the king life is in danger.
Appointment
Candidates for this title do go through a rigorous reviewal process before but the final decision of who becomes the King's Shield lies solely with the king.
Duties
Protect the king at all costs.
History
After centuries in hiding the royal bloodline returned to their ancestral homeland and reclaimed the throne.
