Nakarmalai
Build on the shores of the Lake of Shadows, it is the legendary city of Putarabav. Founded 50 generations ago the patrician families still trace their bloodlines to that noble lineage. Always facing the uncultured barbarians of the Brightlands it has a long military tradition, as is fitting for the sons of Putara. 10 generations ago they founded the colony of Lightspear as a forward point of defense, allowing the parent city a degree of peace. After several generations the colony was prospering, and chafing under the constraints of their lords in the Vale. Allying with several of the local tribes they threw off the bonds that tied them to Nakarmalai.
Having lost their colony to the east the city fathers turned their eyes north to the Shadow Peaks. Valuable trade had long come down the Whiteflow and several expeditions were sent up into the mountains to seek out the mines and quarries. These outposts are now one of the main economic engines of the city.
Government
A high prince supported by a council of elders from the other 10 noble houses
Defences
A wall of stone over 20ft high, even the Emperor was unable to take the city except by treachery. It is said the land under the citadel of the prince was blessed by the Mother herself
Industry & Trade
Mines to the north bring down copper and tin for bronze. To the south are orchards and vineyards under the eaves of the Dawnwood. Between the rivers and the woods are numerous farms and villages providing the food to support a great city.
Geography
Built on an inlet of the Lake of Shadows, the immediate area is flat grassland, giving way to rolling hills to the east. more than a few days ride from the city the rivers are the most convenient methods of travel.
