James the Wolf

James Walker (a.k.a. Jimmy the Wolf / Stalking Wolf)

James Walker was born in the Nebraska territory half Pawnee on his father's side. He grew up partially with his mother, Roslyn Walker, and with his tribe and grandfather Little Crow who taught him to hunt and track. He spent most of his later childhood and young adult years with the Pawnee tribe.

In 1866-1867, he was recruited by Sgt "Black" Jack Cole to serve as a scout for the U.S. Army fighting the Cheyenne to protect the Union Pacific Railroad. It was during his time with Jack Cole, that he gained his new nickname, Jimmy the Wolf. Together with Jack's friend Henry Mumple they rescued kidnapped girls by Chief Turkey Leg. The chief's family was all killed except for his son, Broken Dish who vowed revenge.

After serving as a scout for some time, Jack Cole, got him a job with the Hennessy Agency. The jobs are often dangerous but also exciting and make for good tales. While he often feels out of place when they are in cities, the opportunities seem much better than other in his tribe that are either relocating to Indian Territory or still serving as scouts for the army
