Magested, the first Elven civilization

The first great Elven kingdom started out as the small Elven settlement of Magested.   Magested was built within the forest, between the fork of two great rivers.   The river's source is within a great Conflux, connected to arcane energy, that feeds the river with that same energy. It was named, The Mage Flow, and it forks into the northern and southern Fingers. The Mage Flow river and its branches' magical energy innervates the forest around it. Plant and animal life in the area take on magical properties from this influence.   Elves of the world consider themselves more in tune with the domains of Nature and Freedom, tending to shy away from the Confluxes, but accept them as a natural part of the planet. Elves connect more closely with Nature and the Ley Lines. This is why settlers decided to begin living down river from the Conflux.   The settlers of Magested would feed on and harness the magic of the river. This granted the people access to greatly enhanced magical powers. These powers would grow as they were passed on to the settler's descendants. A society of arcane magic users would grow out of the city, known as the Mage River Kinship. Their goal was to continually harness magic from the rivers, and pass along that power to worthy apprentices. This all started with the famed mage, Mag'resh Jaspersen, discovered that her children had the same magical abilities they did.   Over time, the Elves living along the river would learn to harness its energy. They would use it to grow and eventually build a city out of the Magested village. The city would become a central seat of power for Elves across the world. Elves from all over the world would congregate in the Kingdom. Other Elven settlements and kingdoms would send delegates and a conclave was formed. All kinds of elves would make up the city's inhabitants and be represented in the Kingdom's court. Eventually the city Magested becomes would be recognized as the global seat of power for all Elves.   The first King and Queen to rule the kingdom would be one of the families that founded Magested. Their family would rule for several generations. As more elves became part of the kingdom the King and Queen would become a representative title granted to a couple or family which championed Elven kind across the world.   The kingdom would come to represent High, Wood, and even Drow/Dark elves throughout the world.   Features of the Kingdom:   The Crystalline Palace: Seat of power for the Kings and Queens of Magested.   Mage Flow University: Multi-racial Arcane university that trains magic-users from around the world. Founded and predominantly run by Elves, many of whom are descendants of the Kinship.   The Mage Flow Courts: A series of tiered courts, centered over the beginning of the river's fork, where members of the local nobility and delegates from the Empire's member kingdoms meet. Directly connected to the Crystalline Palace.   The Portal Markets: A special features of the Inner city. This market is located near the center of the Magested city. It features a series of portals leading to various markets around the world. The market and it's portals are run by the Silver Consortium, a world spanning merchant's guild.   The village of Magested began as a loose assortment of village homes along the banks of Mage Flow's fork. The town and city would be centered between the fork and grow into a sprawling metropolis that bridged the entire area around the forks. The city itself, at it's peak, would almost become a protective shell over the end of the river and its forks.   The lowest levels of the city would feature canals and channels fed by the rivers as the inhabitants built larger and larger structures above it. This would give the city it's signature tier aesthetic and further divide areas of the city horizontally and vertically.   Efforts were also made to maintain and incorporate the surrounding forest into the city's borders. During the early years of the city many Wood elves would migrate there and become the impetus for integrating the forest into the city. There as as many structures and foundations using natural materials as man-made materials.
