The Wanderer's Palace

The Site

In the drained Bronze Lake stands the imposing spires of the Wanderer’s Palace. What was once lost to the denizens of the surface resurfaced during the 7th Umbral Era. The former cultural center of the society of Nym still teems with life and mystery through its many twisting halls and spiral passage ways. The Garden delved into the treacherous ruins several times in their expedition to unlock the Nymian Vault.
The Library

Being a mage of some renown, Mafrea was chosen to lead a venture into the upper floors of the palace. Found in the top of the spires were several libraries believed to offer hints as to where the other stones may have gone. Entering a small study, the venturing party attempted contact with the Tonberries residing the room. Their new friends were less than talkative and the menacing green creatures drew knives and advanced on the party. Dispatching the creatures, the adventurers had hoped for reprieve but were disappointed to find additional Tonberries. The crew was overwhelmed by the tide of green and forced to retreat.   A second venture was attempted with stealth in mind. Utilizing a series of diversions, distractions, and strategic stealth kills, the party was able to infiltrate the palace relatively unnoticed. Advancing through the rows of books and tables, the stealth group remained one room away from their target. Z’ylarix attempted to scout a hallway only to be met by a 12 fulm tall Tonberry carrying a butcher’s cleaver of near equal size. Fortunate for the miqo’te, the creature failed to notice her. The crew made their way through the room, only Naih faltering at the end. The resulting noise alerted a horde of sickly green tonberries and the enemies quickly converge.   Entering the main chamber, the venturing party barricaded the door and rapidly searched for information. With a bit of luck, they were able to find the few books useful to their endeavor. Locked in a room with only one exit, the party had to get creative. Utilizing explosives, they blew open a hole in the wall and utilized the Rocinante to retrieve them before the enemies were able to break through. The information they gathered gave them leads to the possible location of the purple stone.
The Basement

The(former) Magistress Catherina headed this expedition. The party ventured through a winding maze of chasms and corridors. The Nymians had constructed a series of chambers likely intended for warding off any would-be looters. Illusory magic, alchemy, and general trickery was utilized to slow and, in some cases, halt the advance of intruders. False birds swooped from the roof to harass the party while in other rooms, potions of ill intent were set to drop upon the heads of unfortunate souls.   After a time the party came to a fork in the path. One way was closed with what appeared to be a false wall. Having their fill of magic, the party blasted a hole through the false wall with a detonation pack. From here the crew found the red stone needed to access the vault.   Finding more than a few treasures on the first delve into the branching network of tunnels, a second venture was mustered a few weeks later. Tonberries carrying chests were encountered, dispatched, and looted. The party then encountered several explosives and other deadly traps further in, but took minimal injury. The crew was able to raid some minor valuables and numerous religious and cultural artifacts from the former civilization.
