Warped Memory

Basic Information

Anatomy

A warped memory is the embodiment of what once was the memories tied to one's soul--twisted beyond recognition past a few minor similarities to what the soul once belonged to. Specifically, it's a creature that forms from a special form of necromancy where the memories take form separate from the actual soul, the soul remaining "dead" or simply detached from the new embodiment of these memories. These embodiments also tend to reflect the emotional connection the summoner has with these memories; in this case the memories are formed with hatred and spite aimed towards the entities they came from. The result is an inky black, almost sludge like, creature with piercing red eyes. The form varies, being specifically tied to what the creature once was in life, and appears to have no real limitations as to how corrupt or twisted they can become. Despite this, the body of warped memories tends to have amorphous qualities and can be sludge-like, dripping and attempting to fall apart without ever truly succumbing to gravity. They are also known to resemble rotted corpses, making them look a bit like zombies at times. Tendrils and misshapen appendages are also very common for these entities.

Ecology and Habitats

Due to the unique way the world came to an end for the entities these creatures used to be, there is only one planet where warped memories are found. That's not to say that they couldn't exist in other worlds, or dimensions, due to the nature of how they are created, but currently there are only records of one place--across multiple dimensions--where warped memories are located. Not to mention, one place where they're so prevalent that the only "living" things on the planet are the warped memories themselves.

Biological Cycle

Generally the sludge-like creatures remain in hibernation, a death-like state only the dead can achieve, until something living is detected that they can easily reach. However, there are instances where the warped memory becomes restless enough to remain active, even if there are no living entities on the planet. These specific warped memories can be found doing random, simplistic tasks that the memory would be familiar with, or otherwise can be found roaming around familiar areas.

Behaviour

The world these entities exist on is considered a grave world, and the warped memories serve as a protection for that world in a way. They will immediately assault and kill anyone that disturbs the spirits on this world, and while that person may not become a warped memory, their soul will be lost to the cursed afterlife that this planet has in store.

Additional Information

Social Structure

There is a very light social structure, mostly due to them mimicking memories that they have of the past before the apocalypse. That being said, they all hail to the current god that created this wasteland out of the world, and currently roams the barren lands that remain. While most warped memories freely do as they will, some seem capable of commanding legions of warped memories, such as old military commanders and other similar figures.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

These creatures are found all over their home planet. One might expect there to be no rest once touching ground on this world, since most locations are filled with warped memories. There are some locations in the world which have no nearby memories to worry about, however these locations are few and far between, and are mostly secluded locations that are difficult to reach--even for the living.

Average Intelligence

The intelligence of these creatures are non-existent for the most part, and have a one track mind. They will remain dead until detecting nearby entities to slaughter, and will relentlessly hunt them down until they are either dispatched or successfully kill their prey. While they are familiar with techniques and abilities they possessed when alive, they have no real ability to utilize tactics. They only care about getting closer to their target.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to the unbalance of nature on the planet where warped memories are found, they have immediate knowledge of anything living on the apocalyptic world. Even if they are on the other side of the planet, they are very aware of the exact location and condition of the entity. Despite this information, they will not attack unless the subject is within reasonable range.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
While the bodies of warped memories are too varied to specify much else other than their glowing red eyes, their body tint is always a deep inky black. This is the physical corruption the memories underwent to become what is seen today, which makes them rather toxic to the touch for spirits who have yet to become warped memories.
