Rainbow Wyvern

Basic Information

Anatomy

At first glance the rainbow wyvern appears to be like any other wyvern, and follows a similar anatomy. A large, extremely long scaled body that extends for multiple meters, with extra sets of legs to accommodate this extreme length. It has four horns which jut out from the back of its head, and razor sharp feathers that extend from its elongated back. However, despite its looks it's actually a sky spirit that is made of nothing more than gasses from clouds. In particular, they are rare storm spirits that occur when a rainbow appears within a storm.

Ecology and Habitats

The natural habitat of a rainbow wyvern is within the boundaries of powerful storms, especially ones that are generated from magic. They are often within the light of the sun where rainbows are more prevalent, thus are more often than not seen above the clouds of a storm, and are seldom seen at lower altitudes.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The diet of a rainbow wyvern consists entirely of water and magics related to such. The wyverns are made of gasses that form the clouds, and thus are mostly made of water. The harsher the storm and more rain that falls in the storm, the more powerful they will be. Storms that have dry rain, or no rain at all, present the weakest variants of rainbow wyverns.

Behaviour

Due to being animate aspects of the storm, they are as active and aggressive as the storm they are present in. They mimic the severity of the storm, both in numbers and aggression towards entities they may be passing through or near the storm. They are normally viewed to be mostly passive towards entities on land, though this is not always the case.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

The wyverns have a standard anatomy found on most wyverns. They have long snouts with two large fangs, and a long row of teeth. They have a colorful complexion on their scales, and the beard that hangs from their jaw. They have colorful irises to match their bodies, and multiple horns on the back of their head.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

These dragons are tied to storms, and thus are more frequent in locations where storms are more prevalent by proxy. This especially includes more tropical or coastal locations that suffer severe tropical storms.

Average Intelligence

Acting as an extension of the storm they don't appear to have independent intelligence, relying heavily on the ambient magic of the storm they are within in order to coordinate themselves.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

These creatures appear to be sensitive to anything within range of the storm they are currently guarding or hunting within, as if the storm is an extension of their natural senses, or perhaps is an entity that can alert them to the position of a target.

Average Length

Average Physique
Rainbow wyverns have a tendency to reach the size of buildings, and are more than capable threats for many fauna that call the skies home. Even large scale airships that dare tread through the storms they inhabit. Their scales are tough, and their jaws powerful enough to rip metal apart.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Rainbow wyverns, as the name implies, have completely prismatic bodies and feathers that give them a rainbow hue throughout their whole body--which has an iridescent glow that shimmers off of them. They are also known to produce ambient clouds or smoke around their bodies which appear in different colors as well.
