Eldraekon ((El-drei-con))

Basic Information

Anatomy

Eldraekons appear at first as an amorphous, rippling mass of shadows and physical matter attached to the head of what could only be described as a nightmare dragon or dinosaur. Once an entity is spotted by this creature, the rest of its body will begin to form. It is a large quadruped creature with thick leathery skin and massive claws. The creature is reptilian in nature, like the aforementioned entities it gets confused for, but it has no wings and is overall much more slender and serpent like than most dinosaurs or dragons. Coming off its body are multiple tendrils and horns, similar to tentacles that octopuses have. Overall, despite being a land animal, it has a very aquatic look to it.

Ecology and Habitats

The only locations the eldraekon are found in is the liminal dimension outside of all other dimensions. For this reason they are seen as having eldritch roots, and explains their otherwise nightmarish nature and physical form. While there is no particular location they skulk around within this dimension, it doesn't appear there are many locations within it they are not found--provided that water isn't a prevalent environmental obstacle that is commonly found in that specific section of the liminal space.

Dietary Needs and Habits

While these entities don't appear to require anything in order to maintain their existence or life, they do present an immediate hostility towards anyone that tresspasses near them. They hunt anything that is not from the liminal space without discrimination, and are known to tear down whole buildings in the pursuit of potential prey.

Behaviour

It's theorized these creatures, and others very similar to them found within the liminal dimension, are guardians of sorts that prevent people from leaving their home dimension, and plane walking to other dimensions haphazardly. While they aren't the perfect method of eliminating anyone trying to cross dimensions, they are still extremely effective hunters with a bloodlust that is very difficult to escape from. The eldraekons are very single minded, and only exist to kill. Otherwise, they appear to fall into a pseudo-hibernation until someone comes close enough for them to detect.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Their heads are what appear to be both the most constant of their entire forms, and is frequently the weak spot of an eldraekon. They has large glowing red eyes, and massive horns and tendrils which jut out at the edges of their jaw line and the ridge of their brows. They have insanely large maws with plenty of teeth to rip apart structures and prey with.

Average Intelligence

Eldraekons are very single minded, and will only chase after something for as long as they can detect it. Typically this is done through eye sight, though it does still have a somewhat keen sense of smell, and its tendrils are great for feeling around for prey in locations where the eldraekon might otherwise be incapable of reaching or otherwise seeing into.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Outside of the standard five senses, it has no real extrasensory capabilities, though due to the amorphous nature of this entity, it has the ability to let its body ooze into locations it otherwise wouldn't be capable of fitting in, as a method feeling around for hiding prey.

Average Physique
These creatures are more than capable of smashing apart large buildings and stone structures with their monolithic bodies. Despite their mass being amorphous at times, they command a ton of physical power that goes behind their bloodlust during hunts for prey. This is mostly due to their building size bodies and rigid stature, however they also possess a great deal of strength simply due to their more eldritch nature.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The coloring of eldraekons are consistent between them all due to the color of the eldritch magic that forms them remaining a consistent dark inky black. This makes them reliably difficult to spot in the dark, aside from their large glowing red eyes which stick out among the swirling black that forms their bodies.
