Crystopia

Demographics

Crystopia has a population from most races in the Ancestor Isles but is home to primarily members of the Catfolk races. The second most populace race in Crystopia is human. Most citizens in this town are within the mining or smithing professions/industries, but many other professions are seen here as well.

Government

Crystopia is the political seat of Crystosis County. Due to this, it operates similar to the Kasetian capital of Kaset rather than your standard town or city. It houses two governmental bodies: the office of the County Overseer, which oversees the county overall, and the office of the city steward or governor, which oversees the city.

Defences

Crystopia houses a local garrison of 5,000 soldiers which fall under command of the County Overseer, and roughly 250 city guards. The local garrison may be seen at times aiding the city guard but act as the first line of defense. The city guard are responsible solely for the city's security, while the garrison's is the security of the whole county. Crystopia is surrounded by walls which form a motte-and-bailey fortification.

Industry & Trade

The primary industry that Crystopia is known for is mining and blacksmithing, providing over 50% of Kasetia's supply of ores, metal, and metal building parts/pieces. However, there is a port in this city which allows trade to become easier, and opens opportunity in this city for fishermen. Other common industry and trade may be seen here as well.

Guilds and Factions

While officially seen as a business, and not a guild or faction, the Terrain Titans Mining Company is headquartered in Crystopia and control most of the local mines, but not all.   Additionally, The Jade Ridershave a local guild hall and provides their services in this city.   The Crown Merchant's Guild, the most powerful merchant guild originating in the Dwarven Confederation, has a local guild hall here due to the valuable trade provided by the rich mining industry.

History

To the average citizen of the Ancestor Isles, when they hear the name Crystopia, they usually think of the Treaty of Crystopia and the short civil war between the House of Kaseto and the Snagrian crown that lead to the treaty which was signed here.   However, throughout history, Crystopia has had many names and rulers lost to time but it wasn't until Snagria became a unified country that it was named Crystopia and began to grow from a small mining village into a major hub.
