Session 34: Subject #047

General Summary

In preparation for the big Sovereign’s Day event, the party travelled to East Market to purchase armour, weapons, and precious stones. Teddy visited a magic man to have his jewellery appraised and Luda sent a cutting letter directly to The Oculus Trust building, addressed to Marta Gordov.   Outside Heaven’s Kitchen, the party restyled themselves in order to pass discreetly into the arena, with Estelle Trent’s aid. In your prime seats, positioned in spitting distance from the vast sandy arena, you heard the dulcet tones of Antonomous Briggs, local news presenter, as he announced Watchward Bozan, lumbering darling of The Oculus Trust, to an eerily silent crowd. Briggs also introduced three champions hailing from all over the All Sanctum, before the poor fighters were torn mercilessly to shreds by the reanimated supersoldier. During the massacre, you noted the presence of the Adium Asai, Galatea, and the marked absence of a certain Dr. M. Gordov.   As ten watchwards were called in to sedate Bozan, you were pulled aside by Antonomous Briggs, who peered at you through binoculars surgically fixed to a plasticine face and told you a cab was waiting specially for you, to take you all to the afterparty at The Oculus Trust HQ.   A solemn, hulking figure drove you to the steps of The Oculus Trust building, standing like a solitary overbearing headstone atop the tumulus of Giant’s Hill. From behind double doors came the sad overture of an old jazz standard, which played on repeat as you entered the building. As soon as you stepped through, however, you realised something was not quite right. The figures which through the windows appeared to be celebrating partygoers, turned out to be mannequins. Screams joined the jazz music in a chorus of memory, as Luda struggled to recall specifics about the building, from her time there. All but the screams, which she recognised as her own, looping from a scratched vinyl several storeys above your heads.   As you climb the stairs, each storey revealed itself to be a new chapter from Luda’s stay here, frozen in time. Fellow inpatients, psychologists, white-frocked nurses. In a library of records, Teddy’s search of hundreds of files stuck to shelves uncovered a file with Luda’s inpatient number, accompanied by a photo of a young Luda, smiling at the camera. As you reached the fifth floor and the music and screaming grew louder, Luda yelled for Marta, and the sounds stopped, with the scratch of a record. A set of wet bloodstained double doors revealed the doctor, knelt with a pistol to her head, lab coat soaked in her own blood. She explained through shaking breaths her philosophy on death, and her actions leading up to her own demise, as she squeezed the trigger. Luda clawed and howled at the body, as her last hope at finding answers was torn away from her. As Luda crouched by the body, you began to hear footsteps from above and below, and the lights flickered on and off, as Sinara appeared at the door, a look in her eyes identical to Bozan’s, but more refined, more Human.   You engaged in a bloody conflict with her and Bozan, who crawled up the stairs just seconds after Sinara. Both sides, in a cruel twist of irony, reanimated Marta Gordov, only for her to be killed once again. You killed Bozan for a second time. But this was only a small victory, as Sinara came down on Luda with animalistic intent, tearing her metal jaw from her skull, and letting her body drop. Dead.   With Lestie, Satzla and Hester down, Teddy made a hysterical dash for the door. But not before, from the broken glass terrarium, Grandpa came crawling, dropping his wildshape and revealing his true nature as an elderly, white-haired drow, stopping Teddy in his tracks.
