Session 26: Secrets Masked

General Summary

As an imperceptible dawn opened on the 24th of Oliatos, in the pipes beneath the city, the party spoke to Quartermaster Cranthony Berg about their recent raiding of Vincenzo’s boat. Berg urged you all to hide, as Luda paid for his silence, and an unannounced ship docked at Port Illicit. Down a gangplank came several figures in hazmat suits carrying crates of glowing blue liquid. Crouched behind the Quartermaster’s post, you skimmed a recent newspaper, which detailed the approaching Sovereign’s Day, a royal visit in honour of twenty years of Velija’s settlement, as well as reports of violent attacks in East Market, leaving old people claiming they are younger than they appear. In the silence, you heard footsteps and the sound of a cane against stone, as a figure wearing a plague doctor mask greeted the crate carriers. Suddenly, one figure dropped a crate and out spilled the blue liquid, finding its way, as though sentient, into the workers’ veins. As two hazmat-suited individuals became one, an amalgamation bound by the liquid, the woman in the mask one by one killed them all, followed by Berg, leaving no witnesses to the event… besides the party.   The plague doctor paged a clean up team and disappeared, leaving a little time for the party to investigate the blue shit. You made your way back to Heaven’s Kitchen for the last time, needing a quiet place to demystify the confusing incident you just witnessed. You found the district swarmed by watchwards, who placed Lestie, Marcus, and Satzla in cuffs. Luda and Olechka, worried for their friends, who they feared were being escorted to the Treasure Trove dungeons under Giant’s Hill, went to Tower East. Proffering an uncomfortable apology to Mirelle, Olechka endured a conversation with her husband Ivan, striking a bargain. Ivan would tell his men to release her friends, so long as Olechka agreed to meet with Carlo Borscht again. Luda told Olechka all about polka dots as they kicked down Mirelle’s letterbox before rushing to reunite with their friends. Olechka enlightened the party with her troubling history with Carlo.   You decided to finally translate the note, making your way inside the university invisible or disguised as watchwards (and the late Vincenzo in Olechka’s case.) The receptionist, Mona Nonagrot, told you of The Lectory, a society of punk monks residing in the depths of the university. You met with Lector Bilge, who translated: ‘Tonight, talk to the old man. Tomorrow night, Break windows. Next, fertilise bloom. Kill the waitress if she doesn’t comply. Your future’s looking bright. Eyes everywhere.’ Bilge also told you that Primordial was once used in necromantic magic. Meanwhile, Luda snuck away to the university’s Dilution department, where she found Oculus Trust employees, led by Eisel Von Oldaghar planning to construct a new water system and dilute it with ‘liquid courage’. You also learnt that a large presentation would occur on Sovereign’s Day. You left the building and made your way to the Tawney Treads, to talk to Lev in his tent, and view his morning seminar.
