Unarcanium

Prompt 6: Somewhere in your world setting describe a material only harvestable from nature.   Unarcanium   Unarcanium is a rare metal only found in the northern desert. The ore is a dull blue with flecks of bright silver through it & is found in small deposits in the base of creators dug by meteor strikes on the dunes over thousands of years. When smelted the metal has properties similar to gold. It is highly malleable and can be beaten into a fine leaf that can be painted onto other surfaces, meaning a small amount can coat a large number of objects. The finished metal appears as a highly reflective blue chrome-like surface with scintillating flecks of bright, sparkling silver colours. But this is not the most fantastic property.   In any form, Unarcanium holds an anti-magic property. Any magic item or field that comes in contact with the metal will lose the strength of its magic powers, in its most diluted form as a natural ore, it will cause temporary loss of the magic the item is imbued with. However smelted and crafted by a skilled master blacksmith the metals power becomes focused and concentrated so that it can permanently destroy magic in magic items, and magic fields, such as portals, force fields etc. Cuts and piercing with this metal have a chance of getting some of the metal molecules in the victim's blood. When this happens there is the possibility the metal affects the user's ability to interact with the magic fields they draw on for their spells, essential rendering them unable to cast spells until their bodies can break down the molecules and restore their connection to the magical weave.   The metal is found in its greatest density in the great dune sea in the central region of the northern desert, however, is both difficult to find, due to the shifting sands, and dangerous to reach, due to the giant sand spiders, extreme heat, dust storms and other unknown horrors that lurk in this desolate place. For these reasons the exceedingly rare discovery of the metals are usually in the rocky plateaus and their surrounding areas where creates can be quickly identified from the high cliffs of the plateau and the ore is usually closer to the surface.   The Dark Lord and his servants hate the metal and see no purpose for it except to interfere with their dark magics, so destroy it wherever they find it. In the good realms of the south, those few who know of the metal see it as a divine gift to rid the continent of the corruption of magic. However, the rareness and desirability of the metal mean it is jealously guarded and, when sold, extremely expensive, 1 gram costing upwards of $1,00 gp. Whilst this seems prohibitive a gram of the metal in the right hand can cover the blade edge of a dagger, creating a formidable weapon against magic users and objects.
