The grand temple of Selune
In the earliest history of the humanoid races on Thar’kor Selune was the greatest of the deities, she walked freely in the realm and blessed all with her presence and the land and people prospered. The earliest Kings of the Ancient Kingdoms paid great homage to Selune and sought out her blessings on their people. As the worship became greater and more wealth was brought to gift to Selune a religious order sprung forth and soon established a great temple in the heart of the continent. The ancient tales tell of the great splendour and beauty of this temple and the great wealth that was amassed inside it. However, these are distant memories, and most scholars will tell you they are nothing more than fairy tales and legends.
In truth the temple was real, and it was more beautiful and contained greater wealth than the stories could put into words. However, As Demogorgon’s corruption spread across the northern hemisphere of Thar’kor the need for drastic measures was realised. The ritual to rid the world of Demogorgon and his corruption utilised the temple to initialise the spell and activate the gates that would power the sigils of protection, in doing so the temple was destroyed in a great radiant explosion, as the divinity of Selune radiated through the structure and bursting farther to power the spell. The temple sunk below the earth in a great creator and the glacial mountains were raised up around it burying it in rock and ice for eternity.
Many great adventures have set out in search of the lost temple, many have never returned, most either gave up convincing themselves it was just a myth, while a few searches endlessly for the temple, searching for clues to its whereabouts in any and all thing. Most people consider these adventures as madmen, driven crazy by the effects of dimensional ripples whilst searching for the temple. For many this is true, however, there may be one or two who have found some genuine leads to the resting place of the temple but haven’t yet worked out how to read these cues.
