Es'ante's Charge at the battle of the blood soaked fields

Prompt 10: Somewhere in your world setting describe a military conflict resolved through excellent leadership.   Es'ante's Charge at the Battle of the blood soaked fields   The doomsgate war began in the year 927 Post Imperial Age when the armies of the northern deserts Hordes marched on the Elven kingdoms in the northwest. The battles were slow and bloody. The hordes pushed ever forward with a seemingly endless reserve of dark and evil creatures to fight for them. What the Dark lord's forces possessed in the strength of numbers the elves countered with skill and tactics, however inevitably they were forced to retreat beyond the glacial mountains to the relative safety of the south.   The Dwarven and gnomish kingdoms were the next to be attacked, the first blow being struck in 930 PIA, with the fall of the Hill dwarf kingdom of Khoundrurum in the northern foothills. However, they fared better than the elves due to the networks of fortresses they had built in the mountains northwest of Thar’kor. These robust structures were solid bastions of military might and held the dark lord's forces off for over 2 full years, the Dwarves and gnomes able to rely on a huge stockpile of resources and unique underground farming systems to sustain their population. Though times were tough and eventually many forts and keep fell to the dark lord’s forces. However, the dwarves and gnomes, being clever and industrious people had few casualties, evacuating their populations via tunnels and secret vaults and collapsing passages behind them to prevent the evil creatures from pursuing.   In the time of the great dwarven siege, as it became known, a hero began to emerge in the southern kingdoms. King Es’ante of the Penedes kingdom, who recently ascended to the title of a king after the death of his father, was a hopeful, charismatic and astute tactician. He was a vibrant personality and a daring warrior and had already established his skill in martial tactics and swordplay in many battles. As king of the largest kingdom in Southern Thar’kor, Es’ante invited all the leaders, including those of the exiled elves, of the realm to a war council that lasted a month. Through skillful negotiation and his ability to charm and rally the people of the realm, he was able to forge an alliance of all the kingdoms of Thar’kor against this great evil threat.   Guerilla campaigns were launched in deep enemy territory, spies were sent to the furthers reaches of Thar’kor and production was directed to building n army that could face the dark lord in open combat. On the 18th of Tarsakh, Es’ante launched his battle against the Dark Lord. Es’ante chose his ground well, defended on both flanks by rocky and forested terrain to restrict flanking and with the advantage of high ground Esan’tre made a stand at the entrance to the planorai fields south of the Hungarum mountains. The ranks of 100,00 thousand good men sood, disciplined and trained in formations and maneuvered exactingly on command. However, the dark Lord's forces were many and both powerful and terrifying. As the battle raged on for 3 days and nights, Es’ante had to, on more than one occasion enter the fray and fight alongside the men to rally their resolve and sure up weak points on the line. He commanded great skill in tactics and waited for a key turn in the battle on the eve of the third night when the Horde’s forces broke on the left flank. At this point, Es’ante sent all his reinforcements and heavy cavalry, intending to break the enemy line, flank their force and send a battalion thrusting to the commander of the force, the Dark Lord himself.   Es’ante himself led the charge & fell on the enemy with a furious cry. Over and again his men rallied and saw the enemy fall before them. As victory seemed within grasp the enemy's forces began to rally and cut the calvary charge off from the main force. The Orcs, goblins, ogres, undead, demonic and other evil creatures regrouped and massed an attack at the heart of Es’ante’s line breaking it and spilling out into the rear of the line, splinting the force and beginning to flank from the center out. All hope seemed lost for the forces of good. However, this was Es’ante’s plan all along. He knew the dark Lord’s force could not be overcome, but a strike to the Dark Lord himself could wrench victory from the grasp of a sure defeat.   The cavalry struck hard breaching the Dark Lord’s imperial guard force and striking at the dark lord himself. But it was Es’ante him, self wielding a blade with a powerful property that was able to strike a killing blow to the Dark Lord, only to be struck down by his lich lords moments later. As the Dark Lord & Es’ante lay dying on the field, a brief conversation passed between them. Es’ante hoarsely but filled with the venom of his righteous vengeance called out to the Dark Lord “May the might of good men send you back to the hell you were raised from, and may you lay there for the rest of eternity!”. The Dark Lord simply responded, “You have won this day, and I will not forget that slight, but you die in vain foolish mortal because this war is far from over. I have died many times before and whilst I will walk this earth again, you’ll not be there to stop me when I do.”
